Was the monitor upgrade available for the CPC?

This question bothers me for many years.  I used the CPC6128 mostly for work under CP/M, so I was quite happy with the green monitor.  I did't even think that it could be upgraded.  Much later I became curious about the possibility of such an upgrade.  The CPC6128 is a system integrated with a display.   I didn't noticed any ads which offered just color monitors for the CPC.  Was it possible to buy a color monitor to use it instead of a green one?

Gryzor

I'm pretty sure that no, it was not offered officially as an upgrade...

ComSoft6128

No.

It was Amstrad's way of making you buy another 464/6128 and making more money from the consumer.

but there was a modulator named MP-2 that allowed the CPC6128 to be connected to a color TV

Back the commercial era the GT65 and CTM644 could be bought as single units too. Also cables were offered to connect the CPC to SCART TVs. And then there was the MP3 TV modulator. This was the case for Germany (see German CPC magazines), I don't know for other countries.

Officially?

Honestly I don't know. The adverts in the computer magazines offered single monitors, but I don't remember single keyboards (CPCs). It was companies like Weeske, Wiedmann and some others. If it was official? I got no idea, they just sold them.

Most probably not. It'd be interesting to see what their source was.. refurbished units from broken-down systems?

I am curious how was it possible to use it having the power supply in the monitor.

Simple, it had a PSU in it.
