Why does someone list a 464+ at 450 gbp on ebay and use terms like

The computer has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out.
The keyboard has been carefully cleaned with a antibacterial cleaner. A common issue that effects keyboard operation has been fixed. All keys have been tested.
The tape drive mechanism has been serviced. Three common issues have been rectified and the belt has been replaced.

The computers RAM has been fully tested and replaced where necessary.
All the capacitors have been checked and replaced where necessary.
The rubber feet have been checked and replaced where necessary.

So it's been cleaned, apparently has the caps checked and unlikely any replaced, someone looked at the rubber feet and probably said they are still there....

What are the common tape issues that apparently occur, and may have been fixed?

I find the language rather misleading effectively saying work might have been done rather than what's actually done....

"where necessary", "common issues","serviced"... Yeah, only the cleaning part is probably true though it's not like I'm overly concerned for 30 year old bacteria😀

Retrobytes? Yeah, for years that person has been grabbing whatever units they can and then flipping them with a huge markup claiming they're "refurbished". Ugh.
They're also apparently the only person who lists Pluses on ebay who will ship internationally. So I'm still waiting for an opportunity to get one for a reasonable price. Thanks to Bryce I finally have a GX4000, so I'm not completely bereft.

I find it a bit dishonest people suggesting that they might have done work and improved things if they haven't.  The other issue is it ends up inflating the price of these things, again no issues if someone buys a broken unit, properly repairs and refurbishes it or adds some value by modding it with some upgrades and then charges a reasonable fair sum but it seems rather high price to me.

I'll keep an eye out for a Plus for you. The postage to Australia is also a killer with ebay items.

Seeing the price of plus machines on Ebay make me feel really lucky about mine.

My 6128plus was donated from a friend. Only major issue was the drive.
My 464plus was €35 but it was missing the take deck cover and the keyboard was in complete state, but I ended up replacing both.

But the price of these machines now... it's a complete piss take. And I don't think any of these are actually selling at the listed prices either!
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?
