The good thing about 7-bit ASCII is that it's also UTF-8 compatible. Definitely put that | where it should be, none of this u-acute business!
Agreed!  :) :) :)
The good thing about characters sets is that they are (on CPCs) usually small, like 2 KB. Even using a bigger disc with a something like 700 KB format, such a characters file will be only 4 Kb (because the block size is 4 KB, so that's the minimum). Therefore I thought to provide some more character set file on the application disc. But I have to find out how many are too much or too few.  ;) :)

Make the editor ROMable, add a 16KB font ROM, which should allow 2048 characters - although tbh you'd probably only need 500 or so to cover most needed characters, so you could define nice bold and italic sets as well, and some funky symbols.

Yes, it's planned to have a ROM version too. Hope it fits in one ROM.
Your idea is good. In case I need a 2nd ROM anyway, it can be filled up with characters / character set.  :)

Your text editor looks very nice from the screenshots.

Any news?

Does it run from AMSDOS?

Any disc image to load?
Had a CPC since 1985, currently software dev professional, including embedded systems.

I made in 2013 the first CPC cross-dev environment that auto-installs C compiler and tools: cpc-dev-tool-chain: a portable toolchain for C/ASM development targetting CPC :) later forked into CPCTelera. Also author of intro 2021 a CPC Odyssey :) game Just Get 9 :) and demo Sunny Day :)

Thank you very much  :) :) :)

Well, AMSDOS can only handle files up to 64 KB. But FutureTex now can use files up to 3.5 MB (depends on your RAM expansion). The M4 SD-card can hold files of such nice lenght for example. Therefore FutureOS is needed.

You can download everything at www.FutureOS.de (click at downloads at the left side of the homepage please).  :)

Ah, I wanted just something simple to view and edit files on a CPC464+DDI1 or CPC6128.

My real CPCs have only 64k or 128k, no RAM or ROM expansion so no FutureOS. (To me, software written "for the CPC" means you take any original machine from the era with a configuration widely available at that time, which means 64k or 128k and tape or one disc drive, and the software will just work. It can accept extensions like SSA1 but not require them. If I need a powerful machine I take a modern PC.)

I might give another try at FutureOS one day. Last time I tried (a few years ago on an emulator) I chose some disk images and it didn't work, but that's not the topic here, things must have changed since the years. Keep up the good work!
