Would you want a mobile version of the forum?

I'm a citizen of the world, always on the go. Please do.

Would be nice, but not a must-have.

Coming from here I tried to find if there's a decent solution for a special, mobile theme for the forum like the phpBB one they recently implemented.

Unfortunately the only solution that seems to be working fine is this, which is quite nice, but also costs $20.
We do have some money in the bank so we could buy it, but I woudn't want to do it if there's no real interest... Only 5% of our visits during the last month came from mobile devices, but maybe this is because people avoid using the forum due to its mobile un-friendliness.
So, what say you?

The existing is enough for me.
What is to improve on CPC Wiki is not "forum content", but Wiki content.

Well, who's to say?
I mean, I believe so too, but this site is not to please my favorite preferences, so I prefer to see it in a more 'dynamic' light. If the community decides nobody cares about the wiki and all we care about is forum posts about 8-bit ponies, then...

I'm only interested in using Tapatalk, and since you recently implemented support for that, I'm good.
Do you need music for your Amstrad CPC game project?
Take a look at IndieGameMusic.com - that's where I put my tracks.

@Gryzor: like I already said in the cpc browser thread, Simple Machine Forum has some mobile versions :

http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/?wap
http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/?wap2

Ok, it's not a kick ass mobile theme but it's better than nothing when you are on the go  :)

Gryzor

Yes, the problem with these (apart from looking shitty) is that the system doesn't automatically switch to them when you visit from your mobile (unless you got a Nokia 3210, where WAP kicks in by default I would assume).
And, erm, they look shitty :D

fano

For me , that would be great as i can see forum but my phone is unable to post messages on forum  :-[
"NOP" is the perfect program : short , fast and (known) bug free

Instead of making the site more mobile friendly, it should be made more CPC friendly for when we can access the site directly from our CPCs and Amstrad plus computers.

For example many files on the net are zipped, is there an unzip for the Z80?

steve

Just noticed the poll, it is loaded in favour of mobiles with two options meaning yes and only one (with a negative spin on the person's character) to vote no. >:(

robcfg

As I pointed out, the mobile PhPBB skin is really good, and if the SMF equivalent cost $20 I'd pay it.

Half of the time I visit the forum through my iPhone, so for me it would be nice to have it.

Gryzor

Steve, it's not a score, I just want to judge the interest. If you want a fourth option I'll add it :)

As for making th forum more CPC-friendly, sure, soon as my new career as a programmer takes off :D

steve

You could start by limiting the colours used to the 27 colours of the CPC, with pictures in 4096 colours of the plus.

Gryzor

Conceivably someone could create a script; upon receiving the CPC user agent a script would translate all colours to their nearest equivalents...
Anyone up to the task? :)
