So, I have a list of a few dozens of games I want to put on a few disks. What I can think is, copy the files with CPCdiskXP, calculate the scenarios that will fit in 178kB and then create dsk's.

Is this the way to go, or am I missing something simpler?

didn't you mean cpcxfs or a tool such as this to add the files into the dsk?

But yes, this is the way to to do it.

on a cpc itself, I used file copy of nirvana to do it.

After that you can choose to hide the files you don't want to see keeping only loaders visible when you do a CAT.

Last step if you want is to add a menu that allows you to choose the games.

Of course to make this work, all games must be loaded as files (no direct sector/disk access), and all the files of each game must have unique names (e.g. if 2 games had a "scr" then you'd have to re-write their loader to use a different name).

If you go with the packed files from cngsoft, it's much easier :)

Thanks for the reply :)

No, I meant CPCDiskXP, it's got a nifty disk editor in which you can add files to a dsk and then save it (Edit: ManageDSK is even better)... (but since you mentioned it, anyone has Markus' DiskUtil frontend for cpcxfs? All the links forward to the german forum...)

I had completely missed cngsoft's packs, but the collection is very, very small unfortunately :(

i used to do this in the day with a copy suite on the 6128 of copying the tapes to 3" disk, and yea, the only ones which were issues were the game screens which were just weird and had the same name. loaders and .bas seemed ok to copy back then, I am finding out a lot about how to do it now with new methods!

I didn't know cpcdiskxp could do that, I thought it was only for reading and writing the whole disk.
In that case yes, it should work as well.

When I say cngsoft packed files, I mean his collection of games that are 1 file each.
I thought there were quite a few now??

Nah, only 9 titles... unless I'm missing something.

César used to have an extensive collection of "single-file" cracks on his site, but they're gone now. :'( I hope he will upload them to his site again - but I still have (almost?) the entire collection on my hard disk! ;)
