Good afternoon, our friend HabiSoft, is testing a fpga board to give Amstrad PCW color. Here you have the link
&feature=youtu.be
Do you think it deserves to create a board?
Another new breakthrough from our friend HabiSoft
We can play in color any game of our Amstrad PCW
I guess this is different to the pcw16 or the "arnold number two" in operation?
The images belong to a PCW8256. This is in evidence. 16 colors can be obtained. The color change is automatic through the fpga board
New Amstrad PCW 8256/8512 color captures: Match Day II & Sol Negro
nice looks like cga
The soft opera games have their graphics ported just like PC-CGA
New color captures: Strip Poker- A gift for my friend Robcfg.
Haaaaahahaaa!
The pictures look good, actually... [emoji23]

The board looks actually great! :) On the other hand, I can only wonder what kind of hardcore solo-party lover would find that Strip Poker videogame sexually arousing. It probably had its audience, though.
Our friend HabiSoft prepares the new version of the emulator CP/M Box for PCW's color. Some images.

Impressive stuff :)
is there information about how this interface operates?
It's still in development, but basically takes the video signal as a bitstream and every two bits give 1 of 4 color or every 4 bits give 1 of 16 colors.

When I looked at the pictures I did think it was done this way. In some of the pictures it is obvious there was some automatic method being used, because some looked like colours from "artifacts" showing hi-res pictures on a ntsc/pal display (same way PC does it).
It's also easy to see that the graphics were ported from CGA or EGA versions.

Well, now. Is there actually a mod that converts a PcW into a color computer?
(Saw this for the emulator, not for the real PcW). Can somebody enlighten me please? :)
Long story short, it's possible to have a board connected to the expansion port with a cpld/fpga that interprets the black and white pixels as binary numbers which are indices into a programmable color table.
So, if you take every 2 pixels, you get 4 colors and half the horizontal resolution, and if you take 4 pixels, then you can have 16 colors and a quarter of the horizontal resolution.
Oh, and he added a 360x256x16 video mode using color attributes.

Does somebody produce / sell this GFX cards for the expansion port?
No one as far as I know.
@Habi (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1314) did the design but I'm not sure if he finished/published it.
Time to ask him ;D
Dear @Habi (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1314) : Can you please enlighten us?
maybe you could try FPGA... (MISTer board: PCW core with audio AY and Color)

I want PCW Color too... (on my real PCW)
