Hi

I've just scored an 8256 with AMX mouse but on loading AMX desktop the mouse appears to be dead. There is no response. Is there a test program, and does anyone have any advice for me if I want to troubleshoot it?

Thanks

JonB

Check the ball of the mouse. Is the rubber still ok, or did it melt?

I repaired an AMX mouse for a friend a few years ago, it turned out to be the single 74-series logic chip inside the mouse that had failed. I can't remember number, off the top of my head, but if you open it up you'll probably find just that one chip and very little else!

Are you the same JonB from Stairway to Hell?

Turns out the cable was damaged in two places, so I have repaired it and it's up and running.

Thanks all!

@CanonMan: yep, 'fraid so! ;)
