Hi all,
It is with great pleasure that I present to you... CPC Scene Radio! With the seemingly demise of Roland Radio, I decided to upload all the songs I recorded into a shoutcast server, without which your holidays (and mine) will probably sound dull :).
Here is the web page:
https://radio.cpcscene.com
And the playlist links (which can be used in any modern music player):
https://m3u.radio.cpcscene.com
https://pls.radio.cpcscene.com
What CPC Scene Radio is about:
- 100% CPC music, recorded on the REAL machine, with NO additional effect (no compression, EQ or anything else).
- No jingle about this or that. Only pure music.
- No social bullcrap. No comments. No ratings. These have proven negative in the past ("My songs are getting downvoted! I'm sure it's because of [insert name here]!", "How could you rate this song 1/5, it's great!!", and so on).
- No fancy website. The webpage is actually generated by the service.
Important:
- This new radio is not a replacement to Roland Radio. Should Roland Radio be up again, CPC Scene Radio will probably not stop.
- I tried to contact Kangaroo about the state of RR and if my radio would bother him, but had no answer. I can only hope he's well.
The present state and the future:
- There are almost 2400 songs here. Short tunes (<15s) appear every 20 songs. Seems like a good ratio.
- I'm using a reliable service on a server I don't own. The service is very cheap, so unless I get really broke, the streaming will continue.
- Credits are checked, but there are still many "unknown authors". Contact me if you find wrong credits. Please remember that a music on CPC may not have the same composer as on C64 or Spectrum.
- It is my intention to record many more songs, but not in a close future. At best by the end of the year. By having full control over the radio, it's much simpler for me to upload them whenever I want.
Known issues:
- A user claims the radio doesn't work on Windows XP. It has been however successfully listened to on Linux, Mac, Amiga, Morphos and more recent Windows.
- The web page is quite late with displaying the current song (the MU3 has no problem), but there's not much I can do.
Thanks
- Thanks to the beta-testers!
- Thanks to Offset for the CPC Scene redirection!
Have fun!
Oooh that is so nice! Thanks for making this!
Anyone knows of a nice simple Android player that will handle the pls well, showing song titles for instance?
Nice :-)
On my Mac it doesn't work with Chrome. It works with Firefox, Safari and Opera.

Which version of MacOS and Chrome are you using? I'm using MacOS Monterey 12.6.7 and Chrome 114.0.5735.198 and works beautifully.

Thanks. I'm fine with the other options, and will listen to it probably from a Windows machine. This was just for information as I tried it on my work laptop and recognised it.

Thanks!

I have no idea what you're talking about, sorry :).
Well, Prodatron did the software for the CPC. Goolgle for SF3 and RSF3 and CPC. :)
Hey all,
CPC Scene Radio works great on the RSF3 / SF3
RSF3 have IR Remote control :)
That's cool, Hans! :) We had this running on Stefan Boths CPC the whole time last weekend on the RetroComputerMeeting in Hannover!

I didn't see your app before, great job, it works very nice!
@Targhan , great that you are back now even official! Thanks for your webradio channel!

No, it has been done completely by Hans/TMTLogic (maybe with Trebmints help?).
Hey,the app is still working, it is now reachable with the latest update.Trebmints helps me add some Quigs features.
you can now also operate the Symbos Webradio App with RC remote control.
However, this is new to Quigs because normally all input comes from the mouse or keyboard

Roland Radio is work fine on Android.
Two radios is better than one radios.
Both need more SID tunes, though.

Do you have list of "unknown authors" tunes?
It should be easy to get proper informations about a large amount of them
And yes, you are right, C=64 composers did not like to programme on Amstrad Spectrum or Atari
Rob Hubbard musics were programmed by David Whittaker or Rob Hubbards waifu
Do you want the informations to be who composed the music or who programmed the music?
Who programmed the music would be harder to work out as memory of 1980s composers not great 40 years later

No, definitely not. That's CPC music! 8)

Ah, you did that nice thing. Sorry, I mixed it up. Btw: Would be great to have web radio also for the native OS. Then it could be used by more users. :)
It seems that the station is down and/or broken - it keeps playing the boilerplate radio station message about azuracast being ready to use randomly in between tracks, often 5-10 times between each music track.
Yeah, the widget does say "station offline"... 😟
For me it currently works. 😉
As well from the website: https://radio.cpcscene.com/
But also from the RSF3 card directly on the CPC.
No the station is not broken, but an "offline" message can appear now and then. Technically it seems everything is fine, I'll try to contact the server support.
Thanks for this.
The "offline" problem seems corrected. Tell me if you experience any problem!
It is online (playing), but the text reads still "Station offline"
Tells me offline, but clicking at Play it just plays :) :) :)
it is great to listen to this radio ! do you plan to broadcast live show? it would be the cool idea !
Thanks! Live show of what? Realtime mixes? Interviews? Nothing like this is planned for now, to be honest. I hope to record new songs soon when I have the time (thanks
@eliot for new monitor!!).
You have to play it with Winamp :-) that is already retro as much as it can get on Windows.

yes you could do the review of the cpc releases by giving your opinion or explaining the compandium. realtime remixes and interviews would be the great idea too!
The ideas are nice, but frankly require way too much work. A website or forum post would be way more relevant.
As for the technical side, talking about code in a podcast is not the right media to talk about something as complex as the compendium (plus I don't have the personal knowledge to discuss it with relevance!). I think I'll stick to recording music for the radio!
As a Christmas gift, I've found some time to record all the latest games/demos music on CPC! More than 2 hours of music, 88 titles, including the Retrodev 2023! Enjoy.
Thanks to all the people who were kind enough to send me their AKS files.
I DON'T have a CPC Plus, so cannot record games/demos from this machine. Feel free to send me the music files (binary, AKS, etc.) if they don't use special Plus features.
Thank you for this great work. Radio has found its place :) ( https://acpc.me) :
