Title: Flooded CPC restored in Valencia: watch the whole process
Post by: cwpab on 10:56, 15 February 25
As you know, Valencia suffered some heavy floods some months ago, and people living in ground level had it the worst.

I can only assume this Amstrad CPC 464 was sitting in a house at that level, because the amount of mud inside it was shocking. Apparently it was still wet 1 month later.

I wonder if a 6128 could have been restored the same way, or disk drives are more delicate. In any case, here's the first part of the video (only assembling is missing):

Luckily, mud like this doesn't significantly damage the computer. It won't have started rusting yet, because the mud blocks the oxygen required for oxidation (as long as it's still wet) and it's fresh water, so no corrosive salts are present. So a decent clean and re-greasing should be all that's required. It would probably be the same for a 6128, but as you mentioned, there's a lot more cleaning needed on the disk drive.

Bryce.
