Surgery of a modded CPC with 2 CRTC
Source: Genesis8 Amstrad Page (http://genesis8.free.fr/index.php)
So if you could find someone to heavily mod your Amstrad CPC, what would you add inside your CPC ?
I vote for :
- remove 3" drive, add a real 3,5" and a HxC emulator drive
- add memory (how much can a CPC handle to the maximum ?)
- add a silicon drive
- A/B switch for the 3,5" and HxC emulator drive
- reset switch
- digiblaster + VN96
- rombox (what would be the best method to choose wich ROMs must be active ?)
- more ideas to come
Dont be shy, also states what you would add outside the CPC (to the expansion port...) like a CPC Booster.
How does such a dual CRTC work ?
Aren't there conflicts or does it simply enable to have all trick from both models ?

A switch permits to choose one of the 2 available.
If I could find someone to do the design work, I would replace the PCB in my cpc464 with one that had a Z80180 processor, 4MB or 8MB ram and a hard disk in place of the floppy, it might also have an Ethernet port, 2 x AY-3-8910, RTC, light pen socket and speech synthesiser.
The OS would be Symbos with Amsdos and CP/M compatibility, and be able to copy from cassette to hard disk.
What does the second CRTC do that the first one does not, and how common are the inferior chips.
