Post by: GUNHED on 15:46, 30 October 24
Hello dear CPC users!  :) :) :)

It's finally here!!!

Today I'm releasing the brand new Halloween edition of the disc mag FutureView  :o

It is full of interesting and funny, but above all positive meeting reports.

You can expect an exciting and stimulating trip through the history of the CPC, stories of its users and much more.

Have fun reading! And have fun with everything around it  :) :) :)

If you have a Digiblaster, please connect it. And activate it in FutureOS using 'Config-OS'.  :)

The LambdaSpeak FS (or LS III) is automatically recognized and used  :)

FutureOS users with a personal ID will benefit in addition. (Email have been sent to them already).

HAVE FUN with the FutureView V - Halloween Edition!  :o :o :o

Greetings,
TFM of FutureSoft

p.s.: Please also write to me what you liked or disliked about the FV-V. I will be happy to take your criticism / advice to heart  :)
Or write to me what you would like to read, because the next issue will definitely come  :)

I can't move forward from this screen, none of the cursor keys respond, I'm using the emulator.

Glad you got it working!  :) :) :)

btw: Activated Digiblaster makes the sample way better compared to PSG version.  ;) Use Config-OS on disc to activate the DB.  :)

Dumb question, I can see the directory of the disk, but if I hit space with mouse on the good file, it shows on the screen : MEDIA (A-M), I press A and it seems to refresh the directory instead of selecting the file.

I downloaded the latest version of FutureOS, running with latest version of the Ace-DL emulator.

Yes, Space is one of the hotkeys.

Pressing Space and afterwards A-M will read the directory of device A-M.

So starting FutureOS, pressing Space and then B will read the directory of drive B.

To start FutureView V you tag the first file "-Start_FV-5" with the mouse pointer (Copy or Fire). And then click a the RUN icon. That's the icon at the very left side in the lower line of icons.

Alternatively (after you see the directory) press Hotkey "j" (jump) to move the mouse arrow to the first file, then press Copy to tag the file and "x" to execute the file.  :) :) :)

Thanks, it was my mistake to use Space instead of copy to validate the file...

I was able to launch it.

Good to hear that you got it working.  :)

Starting FV-V more often will show you different loading-screens (2) and menu screens (3) randomly. Also the choice of songs is randomly.

Hope you're enjoying it.  :) :) :)

If you're using a Wallpaper (background picture) in FutureOS, hava a look at it after starting FV-V and leaving it. Hope you'll like it.  ;) :) ;D

Due to the great success (more than 3 downloads  ), I decided to go straight for issue VI, a release date can be around late spring / early summer. Because I want to cover the 2025 Mittwinter-Meeting too.

However, what do you want to read?

Please let me know about your preferred topics:
- Meeting reports
- New hardware
- Demos
- Interviews
- Programming
- The dirty truth about some CPC sceners, scandals and dirty secrets - oh, the word is: Gossip
- Serious talks about society and politics
- Cat videos

Just let me know what you want. You'll get it!  :o ;D :) :) :)

Thank you very much for your feedback  :) It means a lot to me  :)

Well, I did start from German, translated it into English and had a deep read over it. Then I used Google translate for French, Spanish and Dutch. After that I had a read over all the texts, my French is bad, my Spanish even worse, and in Dutch I can only guess a bit.

For the translation I copied everything in Notepad, and from Notepad to a CPC-Disk.
Now I did continue using FutureTex, because this text editor works with 256 different characters. That allowed me to include language specific characters for Spanish, French and German.
It was needed to develop a custom character set on CPC side to be able to use the same code (8 bit value) to the same character on CPC and PC/Notepad side.

Greek is somehow planned in issue 6 but I need to find out couple of things before I can really make plans to use it. We'll see...  :) :) :)

We must also admit that this mag is a very good idea because it encourages the use of FutureOS. At least it encouraged me!  ;)

BTW... Does somebody has an idea how to play samples on Symbiface 3?

Well, I did try: "F40 Select Audio application mode"

But the OLED shows an error if I try to use Amdrum- or Digiblaster-Emulation, they seem to be only there for the RSF3.

So any idea for SF3?
