Post by: deepfb on 22:14, 25 March 14
As in previous years, the Grupo de Usuarios de Amstrad (spanish Amstrad Users Club) will take part in RetroMadrid 2014 fair. It will be held on 26th and 27th of April, in Madrid.

Anyone willing to come with us is welcome. Please let us (cpcmaniaco or me) know about it!

As always i can not stop of recommending to visit Retro Madrid, only for Amstrad interested people (and if you love retro, then you will love the rest too) the highlights of last year were:
1.- Feel welcome by the spanish user group (GUA). Not only in the stand, a lot of our foreign visits "sleep" (well if you see their CPC collections, usually you will prefer not sleep and enjoy some of the Australian magazines or testing strange peripherals :P ) in home of one of our kind people.

2.- Meet the amazing spanish preserving team (CPCManiaco, deepfb, pinace, Abraxas -you could get his DVD with all the CPC software edited in Spain-, ...), those people are guilties for a lot of the content of CPC-Power and CPCWiki.

3.- Meet CPC celebrities from the 80s (Aventuras Ad -Samudio-, Topo -Gominolas- or Dinamic people) and from this millenium, as Rhino (big surprise from the last year) or Habi (showing his PCW magic :) )

4.- Launch of new games during the event as "Invasion of the Zombi Monsters", buy new CPC games as Teodoro, see first preview of new games as Parasol Stars, ... and chat with the authors of these games.

5.- See special hardware, from a GX4000 with a PANG in a cart with the cloned ACID, the pre-CTC-AY prototype from TotO, PCWs with AY boards and cpu accelerators, CPCs with hard disks, HxC, (this year i'm sure we'll see with the Gotek usb drive), ... other years we have brought the Aleste, KC Compacts, the spanish PDS clone, ...

6.- Get the famous CPC User Group t-shirt, perfect for making the CPC family picture.

7.- Help to preserve your own or rare CPC sotfware, the preservation team is there ready to rescue old jewels not yet preserved.

8.- Get your CPC fixed and even moded, i have the feel that if the Gotek firmware is published before Retro Madrid, it would be possible to burn the firmware in any gotek drive during the event.

9.- Crazy SyX giving original CPC games from deepfb (a few hundreds the last year and that is the reason because he has been exported to 5000 km south this year xDDD)

It's the 30th Anniversary of the CPC ... and Dinamic, are you going to lost it?

I'd really like to come, but a month before the event is much too late for an affordable flight to Madrid. :( Right now, I can see tickets for about 400 Euro and above.

We were not sure how many people (among the usual visitors) would be attending the fair and staying at our homes, so we decided to wait and see, and to delay the announcement... too much, as now we realize. Sorry about that :-(

Damn I was fat and red at the time...

Won't come this year sadly...next year I will try my best and organize it betterly.

Still I can only recommand it as well.
you spanish dudes are a bunch of nice retrogeeks with awesome collections and private museums.

Nice to find sweet tape original modern games (despite I have nothing to read them at the moment...lol) and cool T-shirts.

feels like springbreak. :)

Also quite nice the way you always manage to get some visitors from the european CPCscene...

Still some of you should make some progressos in english... well me too but I was drunk anyway. :D

Classic MacDeath!!!!  ;D

Even those days when we remember nice moments of Retro Madrid, it´s rare than nobody speak about the legend of that french red beret always with a beer in one hand ;)
