Even Randy does? ;-)
Need to integrate the stream into the Radio-plugin of XBMC. m3u should work, I think...
Yes, you can also add the new MONO-Stream for the STEREO-Hater :-) like me :-)
Do it like some others did before! Send us your voice like MaV did: http://rolandradio.net/jingles/mav-en.mp3 (http://rolandradio.net/jingles/mav-en.mp3)
record your voice like in the sample above if you add some greetings and what you think should be on the radio. email your track as MP3 or any other sound format to info@rolandradio.net. We add some nice CPC music and play it on the Radio. Check our track list on Roland Radio | Amstrad CPC music & very much more (http://www.rolandradio.net)
And if you like - you can also send us a version in your mother tongue like Optimus did: http://rolandradio.net/jingles/optimus-gr.mp3 (http://rolandradio.net/jingles/optimus-gr.mp3)
I've listened to this all day! Bloody fantastic

Great that you all like Roland Radio.
If you have any questions, ideas, improvements, suggestions, fruit cake - write a message.
We now have added an small external Radio Player which you can use from our homepage. A small window will pop up in your browser and plays Roland Radio. Also the information about artist and track are updating now so you can see what you are listening.
Check our Homepage Roland Radio - Amstrad CPC music & very much more (http://rolandradio.net) and start listening to Roland Radio.
Thats what the player looks like:

I can't stop listening !
NEVER CLOSE IT DOWN, EVER!
At the moment we are in maintenance mode :-) We have to update three(!) wiondows pcs. Last update was 2012, so it is really necessary. at the moment we are updating the main studio pc, so kangaroo sits in front of the displays and also plays with the mixer and checks if everything is ok. hopefully we will be back in normal mode at 9pm, so we can continue to send the finest CPC music :-)=
Nice to see, how this all evolves. Can we add our own (CPC) songs too? Or is already "full". Guess Targhans collection is really big. :)
If you have some nice MP3 of CPC tunes you can send them to info@rolandradio.net If you should have a huge collection we also can give you access to our FTP system where you can upload a few gigabytes.
As Roland Radio was down today for two hours due to Windows updates, we decided to make a nice Maintenance Mode Song for Roland to sing along in loops during the next maintenance :-)
This is the File: http://rolandradio.net/radio/maintenance.mp3 (http://rolandradio.net/radio/maintenance.mp3)
hah awesome
I've been listening to Roland Radio the last few days. Very nice!
My only comment would be some tracks are too short - perhaps the shorter tracks should be allowed to repeat twice (I know probably not practical unless they're converted to streaming format on the fly?) :)
Steve
TCM/SLP
Hi. they are converted on the fly from flac format into m3p and ogg for streaming. But as they all have a fade out at the end >:( its not possible to loop them without having a gap.
So what i will do next is to remove all the tracks < 15 seconds to the jingles section, so they will only be played on our cartwall and/or before and after station ids and stuff. That will be the best to handle it. also i then can do a kind of "jingle show" or some contest "guess the jingle" :-)
I thought you may have converted them from a module format on the fly.
It's not really a big issue - just occasionally I'll start to enjoy something for it to then end abruptly :)
Roland Radio is currently keeping me sane at work.
Steve
Personally, I like the jingles and wouldn't remove them! They are part of the whole experience :).
like the "time beeps" ? :-) lol
Any idea what keeps causing this on RR?
Decoding failure at 0:37.590 (Connection error):
"http://streaming.rt.cmo.de:8000/rolandradio" (http://streaming.rt.cmo.de:8000/rolandradio");
It's currently 00:45 GMT and I'm up late working on Cosmic Prison Commando while the catchy and somewhat spooky theme from Prince of the Yolk Folk plays on Roland Radio streaming through my Winamp. Good times. :)
Decoding failure at 3:56.884 (Connection error):

And again, it was fine pre maintenance
We have no issues here we know. You can try the mono stream or the ogg stream.
But: we will change streaming server to a newer version at the weekend i think. So we also wil add 64 kBit/s-Streams for MP3 stereo and mono i think.

Cheers, shame really as it was fine before the maintenance. The other radio stations are fine that I also listen too :/
I'll check the system later today.
does anybody else have problems with the stream?
As i can not see any problems and the stream was 100% available today (as i listened to it) :D
But i'll check.
Well, yes, it's like it arrives "chunky"... how can I say that... like a slow Skype connection.
On any "problems" you want to tell me, i need the following informations:
- Which Player do you use (Name, Version, OS)
- Which Stream do you Use (128K Stereo MP3, 128K Mono MP3, 64K Stereo Ogg)
- Which time (german time please) and date you have had the Problem
With this informations i am able to check the log files to approve that you've been listening and that there was a downtime of the stream service or anything else.
Without these informations i can not even tell if it's dark outside or not. So please - if you report problems do this as detailed as possible. As i am listening itself to the radiostream the whole day i have not registered any issues which not was later proven to be a track of crittersoap or crown :-)
No problems here. I used VLC and the stream which Neil79 posted in a previous posting.
Using Foobar, Mono stream!
I think the problem is the internet connection at my family home, not the beastly one at my place. Usually when the bandwith is a problem on any other radio player it cuts out and cuts back in again, however on Roland Radio, any form of break or lag causes a complete shut down of the stream.
Does this make sense? :)
Yes, makes sense ;D NO Roland Radio is better than stuttering Roland Radio :P
Maybe i should set up a 64 kBit/s stream? But i also switched today from "real stereo" to joint stereo wich reduces bandwith and increases quality
Using the internet address and online player, it seems to work pretty well now. Don't know it you changed something or it the net is just more free now. Good work anyway! :)

That would be good ^, for people with really poor internets..
At home I can use the full wack, Fibre Optic :D
NoRecess wanted it, and so we did it :-)
We now have a new streaming server set up wich not only runs on Port 8000 like the most shoutcast/icecast player expect, but you also can use now Port 80 for "listening through firewalls" at the office during work time. Yay!.
Check our the brand new IceCast2-Server at: Roland Radio Streaming Media Server (http://streaming.rolandradio.net/)
I have implemented a first, small "rating" system, so you can now give +1 / -1 to the tracks at the track list.
Roland Radio track list | Roland Radio (http://rolandradio.net/the-roland-radio-track-list/)
I will make this a bit nicer in coding and optics soon.
Wouldn't it better to keep it positive?
no, because we want to see, which tracks are great and which are not. if a track is rated too high in a negative way it will only be played on request on the station. if we do this only in giving "points" we have to define the "play it"-level over and over again.-

This is a great addition to an already amazing web-site/radio. However, I have just "+1" TURBO BOAT SIMULATOR 15 times and now it's #1 on the Top Ten list. Is there any way of stopping people from abusing this new feature?
Yes, we will add some routines to avoid "up/down"-voting :-*
But this takes a while. as i coded the last time as php/fi was actual (google it) i need some time to get in touch with those nice new things in php5 and jQuery and stuff. not that easy for an old Roland :-)
I just start to implement those basic functions and will do the "dont abuse"-stuff later on. As i have to modify the databases behind while i learn how to combine things and functions :-)
So at the moment the Radio Station is posting the played tracks, i add them to the databases and on the same second they appear at the artists page if not already listed. Lot to do. But it will get better and better from weekend to weekend :-)

Yes, there is: Just don't do it!
I admit I don't think it's a good idea to rate music. For your own music collection, it's relevant, but no that much for a CPC radio. Music is a very subjective thing. For example, you might want to love the "Ranarama" music because it's a great game and it reminds you fond memories. Yet, the music isn't very good, objectively speaking :). Yet it has the right to be played as much as "Space Debris by BSC", because the guy that loves playing Ranarama maybe didn't give a crap about the demo Space Debris first appeared in.
I am more for a "play it soon!" button that would program the song in a while, with a security for preventing it from being played too often.
Just my 2 cents...
Trg.Aks
at the moment its just a "rate" music fuction. very raw. not implemented in anything.
i am thinking about to pair rates with profiles so you have your own "top10" and a kind of mark for your most loved sounds but its very very rare at the moment. i try to refresh my coding skillz with this little project. who knows where it will end up :-)
What could maybe be a good idea would be to have an "all star songs" session for one hour that would only play the highest rated songs.

I like the idea, even if I think the songs will be the same for ages... So it might get a bit boring over the years.
Oh i would more like an hour of "Best vs. Worst" - but you wont know which one is what :)
Well, you can make something like "top-rated songs of the month", besides having the all-time top-10.
I have just put this tune in to my **list, it's awful, annoying and probably the WORST tunes I have ever heard on a radio! I always turn the radio station off when this plays :-X
Heheh works perfectly on my Kodi media player, much to the annoyance of the significant other
[attachimg=1]
:D
Got it working on my PS3 too which is nice cos I've been using that to play music on a lot lately while I code my games on the laptop so I have a bit more speed out of my laptop. :)
Haven't figured out how to get the artist and track title showing on it yet though.
Hm, still not figured out how to get track and artist names but I did figure out how to assign an image file from the rolandradio site to the stream.

I am loving this. I put it on when I'm working on lesson plans for my class & I put it on when I study at home. My partner has reliably told me "it's not real music you know... It's supposed to be played with the game..."
Bless her, she doesn't really get it :)
Well, everyone is entitled to have an opinion...
That's not an opinion, it's WRONG. And this is not an opinion.
Some new tunes on the station.
Is someone interested to do a little Amstrad CPC podcast or kind of ,,show" to be played on Roland radio once in a while?
I've been waiting for a CPC podcast for a while...
This is one of the best things ever.
I've since passed it round my Office.
Thanks for your hard work!
