Title: cpc-style pixels
Post by: Carnivius on 16:36, 23 June 09
In case anyone is interested I figured I should link to a post in my blog which contains various CPC Mode 0-style graphics I've done.  arnoldemu has already offered to try produce working CPC coded builds of my CPC-style game projects as they progress.  The 'Blasterine' one is most likely the first one as it's pretty simple and designed as a 'budget' game.  Kind of a silly childhood ambition of mine to have a game I've been involved with producing onto a cassette tape.

Anyways here's the link http://carnivacgames.blogspot.com/2009/06/amstrad-cpc-pixels.html (http://carnivacgames.blogspot.com/2009/06/amstrad-cpc-pixels.html)

Blasterine is a sorta cute colorful platform shooter.  Simple scrolling left to right thing.  Feels sorta like Turbo The Tortoise but with more shooting action I guess.

Where can I play it... I don't see a download link? Or is this just a 'what could be'.

Not yet available for download.  Still designing the first level layout now I've almost got all the graphics ready and imported into the engine (PC executable version).  Gotta do me the first level boss too.  Going pretty quickly considering I only really started putting it all together last Friday.

Gonna be fixing up the Cosmic Prison Commando demo too.  Ironed out most of the bugs from the one I had to submit to the Retro Remakes contest deadline last year and then I'll have that downloadable from my site and people won't have to play the version that crashes or doesn't even start on some PC's.

Will post on this forum as to when download updates are available when they happen.

Really great graphics!
Lately I've been playing around with GiMP and an CPC palette, but I've come to realize that I just can't make pixel graphics.  :(
Your work is awesome though! Keep it up!  :)

Thanks.  Just come out of hospital today.  Still not sure what the heck happened to me man it's surreal to be taken away by paramedics in masks and held in the isolation part of the hospital for the first couple hours of a long night in that place.

When my brains feeling less hurty I can get on with more of this stuff.

Haven't had full blood test results back yet (I should have given them the mobile number, my landline is hit and miss), but I fell ill pretty bad.  Worse than the few times I ever have done and it took me out of action.  Ain't been to a hospital for myself in over 20 years.  Man, some things have changed.  But yeah currently they have to treat everything like swine flu so I was rushed into the isolation ward where I could hear this guy choking a lot and these doctors and nurses with masks and body coverings were running all these typical tests on me before shifting me out to various other wards trying to figure out what's wrong.

Very surreal and painful couple of nights.   I feel mostly fine now but it sure gave me a bit of a scare.

Yeah I'll be fine.  Got me a happy life waiting for me with my girlfriend once we find that nice quiet lil home together so I got no intention of letting anything get me.  I was more concerned about his real old guy in the bed opposite.  Barely any meat left on him but still it looked like someone had beat him up or something.  Major bruising all around the right eye and a heck of a swelling on his forehead.  Dunno what it was for sure but I felt for the guy.  Felt real guilty when he got told he couldn't have the pork pie and egg that he'd requested from the lunch menu cos guess who'd just finished eating the last slice?   :(
