Hi together,
some people still use Windows XP and feel worried that update support expired last year (2014)
So, with a trick, it's possible now to enable full update support until 2019...
Windows XP Embedded has this support, and was used in Bank automats, cash systems etc...
All we need to do now is:
Tell XP that it is "Embedded"
It's possible with a simple registry entry:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]
"Installed"=dword:00000001
How?
Add this entry to your registry, reboot, ready...
Attachment:
Required .REG file
Enjoy it!
Great work! Thank you! :) :) :)
A word of caution. XP embedded devices are a lot more constrained than general Windows PCs and use a much smaller subset of the Win32 API. Furthermore, since they are generally configured as part of the build process, it doesn't really matter whether things like Control Panel still function.
The patches for it are not really concerned with whether or not any of that functionality gets broken, so it's very much an "at your own risk" thing.
Well, leave security off and you are on your own risk. :-\
Well, support for the old CPC hasn't ended yet :)

Not quite, they don't take RMAs any more, otherwise I'd have a lot less fixing to do :D

Wait - you mean to say you're not officially connected to Amstrad PLC?

No, only in heart.[nb]If I was, the repair prices would be much higher.[/nb]
