I never knew until recently the Amiga suffered the same port issue as the Amstrads did, seems ST stuff was ported to Amiga and not really pushing it in the same way as Spectrum stuff was proted to Amstrads with the same results.
Is this true? Can you show any examples?
You think that's bad, the amstrad also suffered from ST ports ;D

St to Amiga ports discussed briefly here

Well, this wasn't as bad as speccyports on CPC despite being the same concept...
Mostly, it just got the Amiga to use only 16 colours isntead of 32, perhaps not trying more at Hardsprites or scrollings, and that's it.
Easy to spot : when both version has very exact same graphics and colours...
concerning CPC's ST port, it was never a bad thing, and mostly french thing... :D
well, they soemtimes recycled the "ST-EGA PC - CGA PC" into some CPC.
But those ports sticked to graphics, perhaps sounds and gameplay, no code recycling of course...
Skate ball, Iron Lord, and so on... also many adventure games or comics/bande déssinées licensed games as well...

It's true and it was well known back in the day, but after all it was nowhere near as bad as the Speccy/CPC issue.
It's not really the same scale of problem - an ST game is still 16 colours, even if it is using software scrolling, sprites, etc. And if it ran okay on an 8MHz ST, it likely would still run okay on the slightly slower Amiga. Obviously not taking advantage of hardware scrolling, sprites, blitter, or other graphical features like the copper, meant the game never really pushed the Amiga but that didn't turn a good game on the ST into a bad game on the Amiga.
Some people have been porting ST-only games to the Amiga on the EAB forums in a similar manner to the CPC Ant Attack port.
quite often the Amiga games would get sounds redone (for obvious reasons), a few palette adjustments, and that's all... but a good ST game would still be good on Amiga.
Many games were exact graphical ports in 16 colours on PC EGA, ST and Amiga, leading to some poor result on EGA PC as the fixed palette was often less than sufficient.
But quite often, the Amiga got proper conversions anyway, past 1989...
First time I saw Purple Saturn Day and BAT load up on my 6128 I thought, wow almost 16bit quality and Captain Blood which reminded me of the son of my Landlady at the time said to her I want computer like his is so much better than ours, they had a C64
I say it too often, but handled correctly the CPC really has best 8 bit graphics compaired to most other ones from 1984 or before.
This means that you don't port from Speccy or C64 but from 16 bits and redo the graphics well with proper colour choices. The way the French and spanish did so often.
You stay on the brightly coloured side though, but it is nice for children.
True words...
