Musicians: Put your tracks on IGM
« on: 07:26, 26 March 21 »
A while back I put a lot of my Arkos Tracker II tracks on IndieGameMusic.com, offering them to game developers on all the retro platforms AKS files are compatible with - which is a lot.

I've begun getting a decent amount of requests for these tracks, from various platforms. Enough to feel that more tracks is needed on the site for variation.
So I'm calling all musicians to take a look at all the tracks you have lying around on your harddisk collecting dust, to put them on IndieGameMusic.com so retro gamedevs on all of these platforms can benefit from them.

You decide how to offer your tracks. Personally, I offer mine completely free if the game is also free (Freeware license). You can also decide to offer a commercial license, either for free too, or else for a couple of euros. I'm currently offering my tracks free for commercial games too - but when/if I create new tracks I think I'll ask for € 1-2 EUR.

The commercial license comes in two variants: Non-exclusive and Exclusive.Non-exclusive means you get to sell the track all you want, thus for a rather low price. You can keep the track on the site no matter how many times you grant a license.

Exclusive means you're offering the track exclusively to one gamedev only. Once sold, you have to remove the track from the site and never let another entity use it. Hence typically a higher price.

Regardless of which licenses you decide to offer, it'll always be royalty-free. Meaning you can't ask for more money later. It's a one-time license fee.

Hope to see your tracks there soon!  :)   Thanks!

P.S.: It doesn't have to be Arkos Tracker II tracks. Any filetype will do. Just remember to only use the tags that applies to the format. E.g. "Compatible with Amstrad CPC".

This is a nice initiative, but what bothers me is that potentially anyone can hear an exclusive song before it is actually chosen by a developer. So, less surprise.

Anyway, I don't have anything in my discs, I work when asked to :).

This is true, but you can say that about any stock site.
I don't think many non-gamedevs (if any at all) go to browse IGM to listen to music. Much like not everyone browses Shutterstock for photos.

Anyway, I don't have anything in my discs, I work when asked to :) .

And that is fine too.  :)
