The UK's No.1 Retro Gaming Podcast returns for another fun packed episode! Your hosts are Andy and Dean (Swainy) who discuss a problem that affects all of us, the difficulty of finding the time to play games as you get older. As we get older, we inevitably find ourselves with extra responsibilities be it owning a house, being a parent and of course being married. With all of this going on, how can we find any time for gaming?
Also in the show:

The guys talk about their latest retro game puchases, hidden gems, reviews, name the game and loads, loads more!

Finding the time can indeed be a tricky quest.

Even after buying the retro machine one had as a kid, it ends up being stored in the closet. No time to play.

Unless: You arrange for a retro meeting with your retro mates. Make it an event. That has worked for me. We're holding two kinds of events for our mates: An "Arcade Day" where we go visit an arcade museum and play all the arcade games. And a "Retro Gaming Day" where we bring our own retro machines and play all day.  :)

It's been fun!

This year we're going again in April.  :)
Do you need music for your Amstrad CPC game project?
Take a look at IndieGameMusic.com - that's where I put my tracks.

It's too bad I live very near where I work. The only time I could really listen to podcasts was when commuting, but now I don't get that :D

sigh

This is a brilliant episode. The upcoming retro shows they mentioned sounds interesting too.

Bit of a late entry as I was busy when this was published last Friday.

Also in this episode we tell you how can win 2 tickets to the biggest Retro Event of the year "Revival" Big thanks to Chris Wilkins for giving us the tickets as a prize give away Also big thanks to Anthony Ogden for being this months Sponsor. (Editors/Andy note ....Because this episode was slightly short due to lack of time and last minute recording I've added a Easter Egg in the show)

Matt digs deeper into the sounds of the mighty SID chip to give you tunes you might not have heard before along with some chat about the chip itself.
Be warned, some technical speak is included free of charge – so don't say we aren't generous! Did you know there has been a real synthesiser designed around the SID & commercially sold? Was SID music a genre in its own right? Are there even more SID tunes out there that better the greats we all now and love? All this and more discussed in this episode.

Hopefully you'll now be inspired to get listening to tunes & musicians outside of the obvious norm.

Looking forward to this one. I really enjoyed Denaris C64 tunes episode.

Swainy

Thanks mate, let me know what you thought of it once you've had a listen :)

Interesting selection and I agree that the Lethal Weapon 3 tune was the best of the bunch. It wouldn't of felt out of place in a double dragon game:)

For me it would of been the The title music for Lotus Esprit 2 and the music from Shadowlands.

Thanks mate, yeah there was loads of tunes that I was on the fence about but I was happy with my final selection. Right, onto this weeks episode!

Foggy is back once again and this time he brought one of our very own Retro Asylum community members SimonLcfc!
This time round the lads take a look at their top top 10 Speccy games from 1984.

We also announce the winner of the 2nd set of tickets to Revival on the 18th of May and also announce the 3rd set of tickets that we will be given away courtesy of Chris Wilkins the organiser of Revival.

We also are happy to announce that the C64 Elite collection is out today and thanks to Steve Wilcox the main man from Elite Systems we will be giving away some iPhone/iPad game codes.

All that plus loads more retro fun and games.

I really like what you guys are doing with the magazine covers!

Looking forward to hearing this next podcast.

Swainy

Yeah I think people look forward to the covers as much as the actual podcast. It's just our way of bringing back that old magazine vibe :)

Right, I'm a bit late posting this one. It's been a manic week!

In this episode Andy plays you the music that captured his imagination through out the last 30 something years.

This podcast is meant to be an insight into who Andy is by the way of music, just like a Movie soundtrack, this soundtrack should hopefully convey who Andy is by his choice of music and his story.

The tunes we play in this episode, range from ZX Spectrum all the way to the Gamecube,so there should be something for everyone.

Hope you enjoy this episode. please leave us your feedback and please if you haven't already leave us a iTunes review.

Some good musical choices.

Would of liked to have heard more CPC tunes like Wec Le Mans which was different from the speccy and C64 version and is fantastic!

I also would of replaced that Street of Rage music with the second mission music from Double Dragon:)

Great podcast! Keep em coming!

@Swainy - Any news on double dragon remake? Has the 2nd mission music track been created? Would love to hear it in all it's 8 bit beauty!

It's still going ahead but the ball is currently in Jim Bagley's court. He's been very busy with his own stuff but it will happen mate, I'm just not sure when.

Right, another week, another episode.

Part 1 of a 2 part special, Matt interviews Dino Dini who of course is the programmer behind the first two Kick Off games and Goal. Matt & Dino don't shy away from getting technical, talking physics coding and of course football. There's even talk of what ended Dino's career - for a time.

Please remember to leave us an iTunes review if you haven't done so already. Cheers!

I cant wait to listen to this interview tomorrow!

Superb!

I like the talk on the decision of how he made the game scroll on the ST due to the hardware differences to that of an Amiga.
Looking forward to part 2.

I would love to hear an interview from Richard Aplin, now that he's on the forum:)

Swainy

I'll see what we can do... Or if someone can point Richard in this threads direction :)
