techmoan's channel is cool. Being interested in retro audio equipment (although I'm certainly not an audiophile) its really informative.

Great video!
Aaaah... tapes, I never liked them back in time. I am happy they are mostly gone nowadays. However, I love tape games, probably because they bring back great great memories...  :) :) I remember buying blank tapes, though, my parents were very kind to buy me the good ones and some of them actually looked very cool. On the other hand, I also used to buy tape games back in time because they were much cheaper than floppies and, in some cases, the floppy version was not even available in the shop. Oh god, I really hated to load the levels one by one  :picard:

The tapes in the video remind me one particularly embarrassing episode of my childhood. It was the last day in the school before summer and we had been told to bring a tape with our favorite music to play it in front of the whole classroom. My best friend and me decided to record our favorite Amstrad chiptunes for everyone to listen. The next day we were really proud of ourselves, tape in hand and waiting for our turn. You can imagine the rest, don´t you? We were 11 and we still talk about it, 25 years later, from time to time  :-X :'( :picard2:

Guilty of similar, only I kept them for the privacy of my walkman. Notable tunes were Netherworld and Dragonninja.
My case was a lot more embarrassing as I was 18-19, and this was 1994-1995!

I remember recording (mostly by proximity) from my CPC and later on from friends' Amigas for use on my walkman... ahhh those were the days!

Tapes weren't bad. Yes, they had some problems (especially cheap ones) but heck, it was an affordable, very portable, rugged format. I think they were really great for their era...

That man takes his tapes very seriously and knows his stuff. He's certainly not an Audiophile though, that would be an insult to his knowledge.

Bryce.

I still use tapes for my 8bits.
Although I have other solutions, my best games are in tapes.
It is a ritual to watch the reels rolling  ;D

I wasn't a fan of them clear tapes, I seem to have more problems with those vs the other tapes I had. Problems ranged from wonky tapes to chewed tape!  :o

Had more pleasure when I could see a CD spinning in it's player, though by the time I got a CD player, it was all hidden away!  >:(
