Hi,
here a Barbarian 2 mockup for CPC+, i just wanted to code something fun with Asic and CPCTelera.
[attach=1,msg196057] [attach=2,msg196057]
Screenshots from Amiga and CPC+ in order to see the difference.
Of course i'll will try to improve it, for now are used 23 colors cpc+ and 33 amiga.
Here the demo to download.
Hey, this looks promising!

Hey, this looks promising!
It will not be a game, it was just to see what could be done if Barbarian 2 was specifically coded for CPC plus.
Is this 320x200?

Is this 320x200?
Yes, mode 1.
Edit : Updated with more accurate colors.
I'm surprised there are enough hardware sprites for both characters in high res, but it looks pretty cool nonetheless.
Nice job, just need to release the source code and find someone up to take the challenge of making it into the actual game!

Of course the source code will be released.
Nice piece of work. :) :) :) Time to fix the game itself ;) :)

Barbarian takes 10 HS and the monster takes 4 HS (it's the smallest monster).
It will be very difficult to display the big monsters correctly.
Using lower res sprites for the characters, but with more than just three colours, would probably be a good compromise without ruining the overall look.
Can you use the red color from the lava stream to the smoking mountain?

No unfortunately, already 4 colors are used.
Are you changing the palette as each screen renders?
Nice usage of the MODE 1 and palette swap for the background.
May be the sprites can be reused for the faces and the sword/shield picture.

The palette for the background is changing 7 times, at lines 10, 36, 54, 82, 126, 157 and 200.

If think i can do something for sword/shield picture with the 2 last SH and one color free.
You can probably add some yellow reflects into your green live gauges too. ;)
Little update with directionnal sword and animated head on pike.
Barbarian II gets little love, but I found it strangely atmospheric... looking forward :)
