Critical mass is, of course, about viability, which is slowly bleeding away.

But also, "a lot" is of course about numbers.

You deliberately miss my point just because you like the medium basically, and I really wish you were right because then we'd have an alternative, but we don't, sadly. When Mastodon is down to its last handful of people exchanging quality content we can act surprised.

Any game that had an ending sequence at all was memorable I think. Short Circuit and After Burner are two that come to mind.

Quote from: Narkhos on 14:06, 17 March 24'm planning to translate it into English, but I don't want to rush into it. It shouldn't just be a Google translation.
By now I've got a taste for game translations and if you're interested in localization into Italian I'll volunteer.
I just need the lyrics (French or English is the same), then I'll take care of adapting them! ;)

I had the very same setup as you back in 1985. I remember getting up early on Saturday mornings to try out my games on the colour TV, and getting a not very good at all picture through the RF connector, but still such a thrill seeing the games in colour.

I hear there are still copies of Amstrad Addict for sale; I hope everyone here has one by now.

Trantor has a great intro sequence.
After the loading screen appears, the game says "Trantor, the last stormtrooper" using some pretty good speech.
Then after the game finally loads, there is a great sequence of Trantor's ship descending to the planet's surface (accompanied by some nice music), and suddenly exploding/disintegrating as he dives to safety.
After this the letters of PROBE Software's logo bounce up and down beautifully.
When you FINALLY get to the game's main menu, one of my favourite pieces of music in a CPC game is played.

It's a fantastic intro sequence.
The only downside is that it takes longer than it should to get to the actual game!
(Maybe that's not such a bad thing, considering how short the game is!)

This is an interesting problem.
I notice that the uncompressed file size is 16400 bytes instead of 16384. I don't know if that is a problem, but it does seem odd.
Decompressing 16400 bytes from 0xFFFF down would cause 16 bytes of the stack to be overwritten (the 16 bytes below 0xC000).

The documentation for cpct_zx7b_decrunch_s says the following:

;;    * *source_end* should be a 16-bit pointer to the latest byte of the array where compressed
;; data is held. ZX7B algorithm will read the array from this byte backwards till its start.
;; No runtime checks are performed: if this value is incorrect, undefined behaviour will follow.
;; Typically, garbage data of undefined size will be produced, potentially overwriting undesired
;; memory parts.

A few years ago @Arnaud had a slightly different problem, and @ronaldo gave a very helpful response.
Not sure if that might help you.

After the war has a cool intro, also Sirwood had load that was just for the intro, the best part to be honest, as the game is painfully slow , I remember that kind of intro as the movie in the Running Man, that was a nice feature.
Wells & fargo does have funny ending too with the can-can girls dance

You would need to add an expansion port to your GX 4000.

Maybe something like this: https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/amstrad-cpc-hardware/gx-4000-to-6128-conversion-kit/ but I don't know where this adapter can be ordered (if still available)

Just curious what are others opinions of most memorable game intros/end screens or end animations back in the day, whether 464 or 6128.

For me I thought the intro for Predator was really cool, game was awful though.

For end screen for a game the most memorable for me is Gryzor, a kick in the teeth where they all died lol.
