Title: 41256 RAM Equivalent Question
Post by: simondo on 15:33, 19 January 17
Hi.
I hope someone can help.

I want to do the DK'Tronics Ram Upgrade as posted here a while ago http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Upgrading_a_Dk%27tronics_RAM_Expansion (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Upgrading_a_Dk%27tronics_RAM_Expansion)

I have come across some  Intel 21256. Are they the same as a 41256?

Thanks,

Hi Simondo,
the article was from me. The 21256 is pin compatible with the 41256. The only difference is that the 21256 has a fast page mode which the 41256 doesn't. I haven't ever tried using 21256 instead of 41256, but I think they would work, however I can't guarantee this. 41256 chips should still be easy to source though.

Bryce.

Thanks Bryce. Sorry for not crediting you in my last post :picard:

Theres some Intel 21256s on Ebay. Seller reckons that these Intel 21256 are same as 41256?

I also have some Hitachi HM51256P-10s at work. Looking at datasheets pinouts are also the same as 41256. Do you think these would work also?

Yes, the 51256 will definitely work, I've used them in other computers to replace 41256 in the past.
