Title: Amstrad CPC 464 keyboard
Post by: ricko on 13:51, 19 May 19
Hi all!

I'm planning to add a USB keyboard to my Amstrad CPC 464. Basically, I'll use a microcontroller to catch the (membrane) keyboard polling and to inject the required signals into the keyboard connector of the CPC. But I'll need a couple of FFCs like the ones the membrane keyboard has and I'm having trouble finding them. I can't find FFC with 2.54mm pitch and 10 connectors. Where could I get them? Of course, any ideas about the usb keyboard are welcomed  :D

Here are some pictures of the cables:

I bought a bunch of these from ebay:

There is a small possibility I have some left - I do remember destroying a few by accident.

Thanks Chinnery, the connectors are also difficult to find, but are the cables which I'm having problems with. I've looked in different sellers like DigiKey and Mouser and they do not offer FFCs with 2.54mm of pitch. I've think of buying some other device to get the cables, like a matricial keyboard or even getting cables with different pitch but I'm unsure of the results...

What about using a 1.27mm or 1.25mm pitch 20 track one ?

I guess i will do that, I don't have too much options. Even 1.27 ones are scarce  >:( , so I think i'd try with 1.25.
