Title: copying files from SD/M4 to Floppy
Post by: davebirl on 23:59, 20 October 23
One of my disks failed and I need to copy files from SD to floppy again but when I try now, my 6128 is trying to write audio and not to drive A:

The commands I am using are as follows and I thought these worked for me in the past.

¦SD
¦cd,"games/granny
¦DISC
¦FCP,"*", "A:" (Copies all files from games/granny to Diskette drive A)

Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Many thanks

Dave

Duke set me straight, it was the modded 6128 rom in slot 31 causing it to try to write to tape :) thank you!

Usually !FCP works like a charm.  :)

However if you want to copy to (or from) any kind of floppy disc on your CPC/6128plus on internal (Amstrad) or external (Vortex) Floppy disc controller you can use the 2023 update of FutureOS. It's fifth ROM provides an easy way to do that.  :)

Quote6128 is trying to write audio and not to drive A:
At a guess the AMSDOS ROM is not working properly. You said |DISC worked, but what about |A and |DIR. Check AMSDOS is in the ROM slots properly, and also check when you |M4ROMOFF that you can access you discs then

Today you can install FutureOS on the M4 expansion. And using the Mass-Storage Icon you enter an environment which allows you to copy multiple file from / to M4 SD card. You can even use two M4 directories at the same time.

Truly hoping you're all enjoying this new feature. And let me know it you miss something.  :)

FutureOS it there for you and to bring light and fun into your life. :) :) :)

In case you want to dump whole discs, the fastest is to use the |M4FE front-end with the option to dump from dsk to physical disc.

Yeah, maybe it's time to do this for FutureOS too. Writing a complete disc takes about 9 seconds. So dumping a disc should take 10-12 seconds.  :)

Is there any interest out there?
