Hey all, now I have a working CPC 464 thank to
@abalore I've been playing the tapes that I have and enjoying those. I've come to try the Dandanator Mini which does work (although I am struggling to get it to connect to my laptop, but I'll figure that out), however when I load any of the games from it I get either, or both in some cases a constant sound of which I can only discribe as static or a clicking noise. I've tried a search of the forum and net but don't seem to be able to locate anything, I've attached some videos for info. BTW the rear connector is nice and clean.
Thanks 👍
Is the noise coming from the internal speaker?
If it is, the CPC has a feature* meant to let you hear the tape as it loads but it lets through a ton of electrical noise too, which in your case is likely coming from the Dandanator.
I have a similar thing with my 464 and my USIfAC 2, where it can be heard accessing and working quite clearly off the internal speaker - It's not harming anything to let it do its thing but I am fine with it, since it's a feature* after all. There is a way to stop it but for the life of me cannot find the details.
*not a bug
Thanks Delvin, yes its from the internal speaker. 👍
Hello, I know of some early versions of Dandanator that were incompatible with PreASIC boards. I warned the sellers (HobbyRetro) and they denied it... until they released a patch to solve it). I don't know if it's the case for you. The "static" noise is nothing to worry about, but the clics can fry your cassette's relay.
Hmm sounds worrying that it damage the cassette relay :o, will check if there is new software version for it, I think its running Loader 2.5
Replaced Z80 chip with a different one and this seems to have cured the static noise and tape clicking. 👌🤞👍
I have the Dandanator up and running without any issue now, or noises. What I'm now missing is how to use a CDT image that is split into side A and B, any assistance would be great.
Thanks 👍
