Title: GX4000 Display issues blurry
Post by: Turboman on 04:08, 17 April 18
This is my first time using a GX4000, I am using a replacement 9V 1A power supply. The issue I have is the screen is really blurry and washed out looking. I tried using a scart cable into the OSSC, Open Source Scan Converter and then I tired a scart  to RCA cable into a HDMI converter. I tried two different LCD TVs. Any ideas on what I need to do? is my GX4000 defective?
These are links to the cables that I purchased.

Here are some links to pictures of the screen. My camera makes it looks better then it actually is.

The SCART provides RGB and Composite PAL. My guess is that you are using the composite output instead of the RGB one.
There is no way to check that the 1st cable is fully wired, the description does not state it. The second one is definitively a composite one.

The picture quality is exactly what I would expect from the setup you describe.

You are going from RGB (best picture quality from CPC) and then converting down to composite (worst picture quality). A HDMI converter won't magically improve the image after it has been brought down to composite, you need a setup that remains at RGB and then converts to whatever your TV offers (other than composite).

Do you know where I can purchase a properly wired cable? or a cable for the 8 pin output?

I did use the scart cable going into the OSSC, it made no difference on the picture quality.

Fully wired SCART's are 10 a penny on Ebay or any other supplier over here. They are cheap as well. In fact I often see them in charity shops in big boxes of cables!

How long is the SCART cable between the CPC and the OSSC?

It's 10 feet long, I just got a shorter one in the mail today but haven't tried it yet.
I also have these that I haven't tried yet. Can I safely use them without shorting something out? I don't know if the pinout is the same on the GX4000 as it is on the computers.

GX4000 DIN video output is the same a the 6128Plus/464Plus.
But note that you must be using the 5V power input instead of the 9V to use it. Otherwise the colour will be really dark as the colour DAC reference voltage is changed according to the power supply used.
The DIN is to be used with a CM14/NN12 and the GX powered from it.
The SCART is to be use with the delivered power supply (originally 11V, but 9V is enough) to a regular TV.
