Title: Old Multiface 2 Query
Post by: Tempest1977 on 14:25, 06 October 22
Hi all, new to the forum 👍

I wonder if anyone can help?

I have a 2nd hand Multiface 2 and am using it on a CPC6128 with an internal Gotek installed.

When attached, the reset button resets the CPC. When the Stop button is pressed it also resets the CPC.

Any ideas before I dismantle it for further investigation?

Best regards

Gavin.

Clean the edge connector with contact cleaner? Maybe corrosion inside. Also, maybe check power supply.

I had this problem as well. One of my CPC6128 machines had a weak power supply and pressing the stop button on the Multiface kept resetting the CPC.

Another CPC6128 had a stronger power supply but I still had to wait a couple of minutes before the stop button worked correctly.

Thank you.

Tried all the usual stuff.

Cleaned the edge connectors on both 6128 and Multiface. Checked for continuity from edge connector through ribbon to through port of multiface, all ok.

Contact cleaned switches and re-soldered switch points.

You might be right about the power supply. It began to work after a while, I even managed to load the Insider to the 8k RAM and it worked fine. So EPROM and RAM seem fine.

I'm using one of these with my 6128 so may be a power issue

Thanks for the advice.Gavin 👍

Hi All,

FYI Update.

I fixed it. It seems that when I installed the Gotek Drive I left the 12v power attached. Gotek drives do not require the 12v power feed 😁

Once removed, MF2 is fully functional.

Again, thanks for your help

It's seems you are right. My 5v 2a PSU is the issue. It was a fluke yesterday, as previously pointed out after a few minutes it works. Until then it just acts as a reset button.

The 12v lead was a red herring although a good one as not needed with a Gotek.

I guess I need a good 5v 4amp psu to power the CPC6128, Gotek and Multiface 2 with no power issues

Can anyone recommend a good PSU please?

Best regards

Gavin.

Hello,

I'm using this one for my CPC 6128, using a Mother X4 expansion, a Multiface 2 and many other interfaces, a SCART for connection to a 15" TV.

The only difference is that my Gotek is an external drive, I still have the internal 3" drive.
