Well, we have M4, X-MEM, (Mega-(Flash)-Gordon), Symbiface II and III, Bryce Lower ROM, EPROM cards and others to replace ROM 0 and the lower ROM. They all get to the expansion port. No need to open the CPC. :) :) :)

You can definitely program CPC ROMS on it. You will just not be able to install it in the CPC. ;-)
The ROMs in the CPC have a 28 pin socket, and this PCB will be inserted into a 24pin socket. Probably totally different pinout.
Actually, the procedure is much simpler on the CPC as you can insert Eproms with higher capacity directly, without such a PCB and add a tiny modification to the socket: https://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/DualOS
I haven't tried it, but afaik a similar approach should also work for the firmware/Basic ROM chip, so a 464 could boot either 1.0 or 1.1.

He has discrete versions, and I build up a few of the 6 ROM with the Xilinx XC9536

Problem with the Xilinx versions (and same with the RAM boards) is that the 5V and all PLCC versions of these chips have been made obsolete by Xilinx years ago. So the ones you see on ebay / Aliexpress are clones of the original. I've been burnt a few times with these. They are getting expensive, flash times are longer and some of them don't even work.
It would be nice to move these designs to a 3.3V SMD version which is currently available (using a regulator, similar to how the Dandanator uses them). I've made a few for myself and put the extras up on ebay, but like with most CPC stuff it is more of a labour of love since they are so time consuming to source parts for, build and post out etc
