The Zero Page on the 6502 is a special area of memory from addresses $0000 to $00FFthat act like pseudo registers. The 6502 provides optimized instructions that operate more efficiently when using addresses within the Zero Page.
Fun fact: the TMS9900 CPU took this further, and had no onboard registers (other than PC & status register). Everything was in RAM.
