A cartridge system was introduced with the launch of the ~~CPC+~~ [[Plus]] seriesand GX4000 console.

This enabled developers to ~~destribute~~ distribute games via cartridges on the new Amstrad...The cartridges are protected by the [[ACID]] chip.
