QuoteI'd like to see a CPC conversion of Alex Kidd (the first Master System   version). I think the CPC could handle it and do it justice. I also   think the CPC needs a decent version of Pacman, surely it could be   written almost arcade perfect in this day and age on a CPC!
Certainly...
Not scrollings needed...
a proper Mode0 is good enough and the palette too..

Then Pac-Mania too... :)

Oooh yeah, good one - that would be cool on a CPC.  I completed Alex Kidd when at uni but had to leave the console on over night as I got so tired but didn't want to quit!

Executioner has done a version of the Acornsoft Pacman.

Amstrad was the second computer, but the first that was only for me, and for which i worked hard to pay for ( I lost count of the number of times I washed the car or mowed the lawn).

The CPC464 with TV colour modulator was also my second computer (my first was a ZX Spectrum 48K in 1983) and the first I bought myself aged 16 in 1987.  In my case I bought it from one of my mum's home mail order catalogues, and paid her approx £2 each week for a whole two years.  Just about every penny I had went on games for this computer, about 500 originals in total and all kept in chests of drawers etc in a tiny bedroom.  I had wanted a CPC464 ever since a friend got one in 1984 and thought it looked like a really powerful and individual type of computer, with some great games.  It felt like a more powerful and friendlier version of the BBC Micro and talking of which, last week I bid on a Archimedes A3020 and just missed out to the top bidder;  not sure what his maximum was but I bid £80.

500 originals? My, you were getting some serious pocket money :D

I was getting £10 a week if I remember correctly with a quarter of that going to my mum each week for the CPC464 itself, so that left £7.50 approx.  I was later told that the £10 was meant to cover clothing, but seeing as a game obsessed teen does not leave his bedroom for air let alone clothing, I was ok!  ;D

Yes it could, but I think the copyright owners, Namco or similar, will stamp on your head.
I heard they have served notices to other people who have re-created their game.

Seriously, who needs new clothes when you have a CPC and there are lots of awesome titles out there... :)

Replace PacMan by a "beholder" and the fantom by goblins or adventurers ? Dwarves treasure hunters/raiders !

You add some Dungeon&Dragon theme...

You have to re-collect the goldcoins... inside the dungeon's corridor.
Some "orbs" (extra eyes) enable you to disintegrate adventurers...

Beholder are magical guardians for treasures and dungeons...

tada...

with some PacMania gameplay of course...

Namco GTFO (and Wizard of the Coast sue you to death...lol...)

Volfied would be a cool remake, with the CPCs colours and screen size etc it could be almost arcade perfect I suspect. It's a great game that is really addictive and I don't recall there being a CPC version, and definitly not an arcade perfect version.

An Angry Birds port would be nice

140 millions downloads and counting

sigh

If Angry Birds came out during the 8 bit era, I have a feeling that it might not of done as well as it is doing now.

I totally agree with you

But if someone ports it to cpc
even slightly changed to avoid Rovio (Angry Pigeons)
we might see cpc on engadget or gizmodo

One game I would have liked back then, was Repulse.

Being young and ambitious I even started trying to code it myself in BASIC. :-) Of course I didn't get that far.

Would suit the Plus quite well.

Doesn't look like a particularly great game though...?

mr_lou

Repulse replaced Bubble Bobble at the local grill, and I remember not liking it at first. But since there wasn't really other options, I began playing it, and ended up liking it quite a bit.

But no, I admit it's not a game I play a lot today.

Also, while remakes may be cool, I belong in the group of CPC enthusiasts who prefer new games.

Angry worms ???

oh wait...

Angry Birds would need a mouse...

Repulse sounds like Light Force! :)

Angry Birds would need a mouse...

Or a touchscreen...  ;)

Seriously though, I think joystick controls would actually be better than a mouse. Just pushing up or down to adjust the trajectory and holding down fire to select the required power would be a good straight-forward control method.
An expanding array of hardware available at www.cpcstore.co.uk (and issue 4 of CPC Fanzine!)

Yes, you're not wrong, it could work with the low resolution.

Btw, welcome mate!
