May be GGP can do this with Titan? It can be the best combo for a new game.

abalore

Just curious. Is it a game with renegade graphics but exploding fist mechanics? According to the mockups it looks like a one vs one fighting game without scrolling. Is that right?

Well, it really was a coincidence, but they are two different projects.

Sure, I have understood. But, who knows... Maybe they will like to join their skill on a same project.

Just a question: where are the knee strikes ? They are so enjoyable in Renegade 1 (with a lovely sound). Even on Target Renegade they are fun too.

Hello everyone,

Thank you very much for your interest in my new Amstrad CPC game project: RENEGADE IV! :)

Currently, the graphic material is progressing very quickly!
All the scenery of all levels are drawn and the first sprites are now starting to bloom.

I am gradually enriching the game in the hope of finding one day a programmer who will take up the challenge of coding everything.

NOTICE TO INTERESTED PARTIES! :)

In order to achieve the challenge, I made sure that all the tiles of all levels fit on less than 16Ko, which will allow a single loading. On the sprite side, I opted for a reduced size of the characters in 32x32 pixels in order to also relieve the CPU and RAM. Thus, the game should run without any problem on a CPC 6128. :)

Here are some screens of RENGADE IV:

Very nice landscapes and sprites. :)
I'm not fan about the grounds and GUI.

With respect to your lovely work in progress, maybe the area is too big to fill?
I couldn't do what you drew, but I just rearranged them to explain my mind. 8)

Anthony Flack

Looking good! Although that is a LOT of pedestrian crossings on the first street...

Looks great, but would look even greater if the Sprites wouldn't have a black outline (line on the Spectrum often used for good reasons).  :)

Sure, it should be, but they are not my sprites. I have just reworked the screen design.

The sprites are very reminiscent of the Double Dragon games on the NES which I think is pretty awesome.

Is this going to be single player like the first Renegade or two player like Target Renegade?
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

TITAN (Eric Cubizolle)

Hello everyone!

Thank you all for your interest in my little project. ;)
So I'm here to give you some news about the development of Renegade IV.

To answer your questions:

- The size of the game window still needs to be defined. The illustration I posted above is just a mockup. ;)
- Even if it may seem unsightly, the black outline of the sprites allows for better readability when the scenery is so full of pixels. :P
- The knee strike is available in the player's range of moves.
- It is planned that two players can play simultaneously. The players will then embody Rico and Colt. :)
- To date, unfortunately no CPC programmer has come forward yet... Fingers crossed! :)

For my part, I am still making progress on the graphical coating of the game. Here is the new material:

Sprite of Youssef :

Sprites of the Motorcycles :

Sprites of Lee :

Sprites of Tony :

Sprites of Freddy :

ALL tiles from ALL levels gathered in less than 16 KB:

I think I've now reached 80% progress on the graphics.
Let's hope this motivates a coder one day. ;)

Hello everybondy !

A short post to announce that the graphic part of the project is now finished! :)

Now, it is possible to create a Renegade IV with all its levels, all its characters, its title screen and even its intro. 🙂
So, notice to CPC programmers: Everything is there, all that's left to do is! 🙂

Official project page: https://amstradmuseum.emu-france.info/Fichiers/Projets/Renegade4_CPC/Renegade%204.htm

For information, the musics in Arkos format are currently being composed by Pulsophonic. :)

PS : I'm currently working on the notice of the game. ;)
There will be two versions of the notice (for now in French language): Modern and oldschool.

The difference is in the representation of the portraits which is drawn in the "Oldschool" version and more "realistic" in the modern version.
Some examples:

Actually the top one looks exactly like that lady that lives across my street. I wonder where did LLMs get the data to generate images after her. :P
