(maybe a bit too tall but it can be cropped if necessary).
I take offence at CPC-Wiki being for 'Single Head Humans' only! What about us two-headed humans? Can't we enjoy the wonderful world of CPC as well?

Grim

Damn double headed humans! Always asking for a second version! Fixed :)

Gryzor

@tastefulmrship: damn right we will. Especially if it's going to be a rotating logo...
@Grim: me likey!!! Techincally it's not very convenient unless we convert it to vector, but a great idea! The disk scan is good (especially the second side version), though the font would probably have to change to a retro-er one :)

Yes, no Arial please! I can spot those ugly slanted-roof t's from a mile away.  :)

Ok, you had it coming. :P

This is my entry. No, I do not have any graphical talent.

Gryzor

You don't need any. this is one of those rare instances where the logo speaks for itself.

Also: Hahahahahaha :D

Morn

Of course every true font geek knows that nothing more is needed for a good logo than Helvetica. You simply can't go wrong with the typeface that has its own movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0847817/ All other typefaces are total abominations.  ;)

Yet Papyrus has many more movie posters to its credit... :D

I like ancient Amsoft font , used this in 464,664,472 model logo... and blue color (Indescomp/Amsoft -amstrad spain- and Erbe -spanish software editor- use blue for CPC cassettes vs. red-spectrum, yellow-C64 and black-MSX)... These others 8bit had logo font for the system... cpc didn't... I think that is for CPC logo...

Fonts?

Captain Future and Tron! That's all you need for perfection (right in front of us). All other fonts for "not yet right now perfect or even rather imperfect projects".  :laugh:

Hello mate,

While the idea is sound and nice, I'm not sure that the font is actually recogniseable... or is it? Which font did you use? can you post the file?

Thanks for the input, this might lead somewhere :)

I'm not expert in typographical fonts (Steve Jobs was, you know...) but I'm interested in... Amsoft use this type of font in cardboard boxes of cpc and pcw computers... and in Amstrad Computer User magazines... Amsoft Software covers too... [I'm Amsoft fan like Pentagon]
The most similar font that I found is comercial, maybe I will buy it for my PCW7512 project logos
http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/storm/defender/
Anyway it is possible to write with it in that web example window and extract it on *.gif file

If anybody found some font like this or from that family of fonts please let us know.

Gryzor

$192? Rrrright... :( Unfortunately I don't think we could collect the complete character set from old material and recreate it in a modern product... :(

RockRiver

Gryzor, I like your Amsoft logo font like Grim dessing too:

Please could you attach the file for this screen, I would use it for my productions  8)

Dont worry about the other Amsoft font and the money, use that web box,and export gif, for example:

Gryzor

(Ooh, now let's wait till the Queen Knights me :D )

Yeah, but it's not that versatile to use it like that unfortunately...

I believe you are referring to this little program, which was designed to be a 'joke' loader for SyX & TotO's ZYNAPS update project...
(attached)

EDIT: Ooops, wrong .dsk! Try this one, instead!

'RockRiver' will have to have the leading and trailing 'score line' removed, but I can't see any reason why it can't be done. I'll have a look this weekend on PC, if possible... unless you want to do it instead!

The code is the original AMSOFT logo builder (copyright 1984 whoever wrote it), but I have changed the format so it has one command per line and removed some of the unused variables that were littering the whole thing. This makes debugging a lot easier.

Here are a few notes;

The program first creates all of the horizontal lines in the logo; (so if you're defining your own, you will need to pre-calculate the number. Building the logo in a paint package first will make this a lot easier)
- Each line is defined once, despite being 4 pixels deep (format: x-position, y-position, length)
- The program then DRAWs x,y x,y+2 x+2,y+4 & x+2,y+6 for each horizontal line
- This is repeated until all horizontals are completed

Then, all vertical lines are drawn;
- Each line is defined once, despite being 5 pixels deep (format: x-position, y-position, height)
- The program actually DRAWs '5 pixel width' horizontal lines, upwards to create the vertical lines
- This is repeated until all verticals are completed

Finally, the special lines are drawn;
- Things like the bottom part of the 'W' and the fiddly bits of the 'k' in my example
- These are not defined in procedures, but are created in succession, so you do not need to pre-calculate the number.
- For your logo, you will need to do bits of the 'R', the 'k' and the 'v' as special lines.

Once done, the program draws the same thing, but in a different PEN, 4 pixels to the left and 4 pixels above.

(yep, more tl;dr from me!)

EDIT: Just to get you started, here's a VERY quick mock-up so you have a fair idea of how it might look!
(Personally, I'm not too happy with how the 'R' and the 'v' turned out... you'll be able to do much better!)

I was going to edit the last post, but I decided to create a new one... I don't care about double posting! Ner!

Here are some re-touches I've done... in .jpg format and the .zip file has them in .bmp format to suit everyone's tastes!
