At least the Spectrum people had the decency to put the ROMs in sockets. On the 664, the dos rom was socketed, making this kind of upgrade real easy...
Bryce.
There are currently 838 auctions classified as amstrad cpc, so we don't need to fill up the site's hard drives with all that clutter.
That proves that CPC hardware is really valuable. Good news for us that has lots of it 8)

I've cast an eye at it. :)Looks interesting, but if there is someone else wanting it, I'll not touch it :)
Great, but we need to decide who bids on it. I can do this if you want (so that the postage is kept to a minimum). I can also do the scans and Disk dumps.
Another large Game collection, not quite the 4000 on offer in the UK, but 86 different games and he had the decency to list them:

Master scan, no instructions or software and I don't know if the price is reasonable or not - depends if you want one I suppose.

A shockingly overpriced Spectrum 48K... (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270841930947)
WTF... only if it was signed by the Man himself... I wonder what amounts the 6 offers were for :)
My offer was for £20, which is all it's worth to me.I was tempted to offer 5p, but £30 is more than it's worth including postage, IMHO. It's not like Speccys are rare and the description even mentions it's damaged.
Cost of Postage from Australia to the UK is probably high, and there is no guarantee that it will make the journey without getting damaged or lost.
wouldn't worry about the duff spectrum quality pics, "boxed in full working order" is all anyone would need to know, nice that its a colour monitor and not the green screen :)
It's a lower ROM replacement card, very easy to build, so not really worth that much.
Bryce.
There were sevaral lower ROMBoards and even an ACU project as far as I can remember, so they are not that rare. Take a look here: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/FO-DOS (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/FO-DOS)
A ROM changer is a complete "no-brainer", it needs nothing more than a ROM socket, 50way socket and 2 diodes. I'll do up a layout if anyones interested. Anyone who can hold a soldering iron can build one of these. But they weren't compatible with ROMBoards, ie: if it's connected, you can't use a ROMBoard/MegaFlash at the same time. It could be made "ROMBoard Compatible", but it would need some logic added.
Bryce.
Please. somebody say they want this before I start bidding on it. I have too many already and cannot really afford to keep buying them. :laugh:I'd be tempted, but I still haven't used the GX4000 I bought about 4 months ago and I don't really need the 4 x 464s and 3 x 6128s I already have (although not all of them work). (I only really bought them to cover all the CRTC and gate array combos when my code didn't work on 1 of my 2 [at the time] 464s)
PS What do You think of the following auction that ended a few days ago. Sold for 358 EUR :oWith Copter 271, Pang and Klax it's probably a fair price even without the console. With all the rest of the games and the monitor (which is probably quite rare) I'd say it's probably a pretty good price if you want one... I take it you know about http://gx4000.co.uk/gamebase/rarity.php (http://gx4000.co.uk/gamebase/rarity.php) ?
"Lot Exceptionnel : Amstrad GX4000 : console + jeux + moniteur"
Did contain a GX4000 + CM14 monitor + 16 cartridge games
There's another 464 plus on ebay at the moment, but this discussion has made me decide I want it!
I've put a reasonable bid on it, so hopefully nobody here pushes my bid up... ;)
Please don't start talking about 664s and 6128pluses now while I'm in a buying frame of mind or I'll hate you all... :o
@TFM: If you really want a 664+, just send me a 6128+ and I'll extract 64K for you :D
Bryce.
I'd still love to add a 664 to my collection, but I just can't bring myself to pay what everyone's asking for them especially as I don't really need one.
Actually.... a bit more seriously.... the Plus has the perfect pocket under the keyboard to take up a MegaFlash internally :D

Huh, ended with no bids? Nice price too, considering the rarity...
[ebay]270875902258[/ebay]Is it illegal?
Should we report it??
Is it illegal?
What, taking a game that was released online for free, sticking it on a chip and selling is as an authentic cart title? I would guess so...I'm not sure. Seller could argue that he's charging for his work with putting the game on a cart. I'm sure lots of people will pay for a cartridge version. I don't think it's illegal.
I'm sure, the seller(s) share their money with Executioner... (I hope)

No, the seller has never contacted me, but I think they should probably be more worried about Konami than me.
*sigh* taking one's work and selling it *is* illegal. Selling something while pretending it's something else *is* illegal. not to mention eBay's regulations about bootlegs, misleading items etc.
Of course - you're right!!! How can there be a doubt? >:(
Well, do try reporting them then :)
And the winner is JESUS from Madrid!

Ouch! probably too expensive. Maybe €100-120?
Just to give you guys a heads up... i'm selling stuff on ebay now under the name of classic.replay
I've already listed two Amstrad disk games, Gazza II and Air Sea Supremacy on disk. With many more to follow.
I would like to, but the postage costs to send oversees is crippling. I just didn't think it was worth offering.
It's up to you guys, if you want I'll get postage prices for sending outside the UK.

More than fair! So let's get that price up :-)
I win the Cheat Mode 1 book.
And I have Cheat Mode 2 too.
I will scan all and put on CPCwiki on this year probably.

I'm really sad to see it go, and yes it runs FutureOS like there's no tomorrow.
Well, just place your maximum bit some time before. There is no need to wait till the last second :-)
I'm really sad to see it go, and yes it runs FutureOS like there's no tomorrow.
It doesn't really speed the A600 up, but it allows you to preload larger chunks of data if you are using WHDLoad.FAST RAM speed up the computer, because the 68K no more have to wait about chipsets (CHIP RAM) access.
But the NC100 can get a whole 2MB of battery backed RAM using one of these :)

I don't think his picture violates the ebay rules as long as you clearly state what's up for sale in the text. There are often auctions for 8-bit computers where it shows a monitor but states that the monitor isn't part of the sale.Heh, I didn't actually notice that he'd already posted it here... Anyway, I'm still pretty sure ebay take a dim view on soliciting invitations to bid on items other than the one for sale, even though a lot of people do it, especially car breakers. There's a huge difference between showing a monitor to prove a computer sold without monitor works correctly and showing pictures of many different computers and inviting offers when selling blank discs... ;) In any case, I still posted the link just because I knew people here would still be interested... :)
P.s. I wouldn't let the 664 go for 100 pounds either, because it probably will fetch more than 100 when it goes up for auction :)True, especially as it's supposed to be in mint condition. That said, there was one sold a few months back for just over £50, although I personally didn't bid on it because it looked quite beaten up.

That's just outright sad. I mean, in the close-up it doesn't even look like it's been well sprayed, you can see the original colour through the paint in some spots. Chances of being a fake 99%

Hi, just wondering if some of the carts this ebayer is selling (Operation Thunderbolt, Klax and Batman) were part of anything such as a demo machine for example, as most seem to have some sort of code printed on the label or are they just fakes (like Navy Seals appears to be in the list)?

Looks like a nice, one owner CPC6128 package with the Colour monitor & TV tuner ad on for anyone in Australia.
Specifically South Australia...Adelaide, as it says local pickup only.
It is not very often that you find these appearing on ebay Australia these days, especially as its a full package including the manual etc.
I'm in Melbourne, so a fair way from me...but Thought I'd post it for any interested South Australians out there.

When I put a disc in it clicks into place nicely.
When I type CAT, the cpc tries to access the disc, but the drive starts buzzing quite loudly, and I get the "Retry, Ignore, Cancel" message popping up. :(
Can anyone offer any suggestions?
If someone can design an IDE/CF interface for the expansion port, these drives would be perfect, only £3.58 each with free delivery from hong kong, there are other listings with different prices.

My biggest problem is that I never got the 5.25 inch disc drive to work. Later I have bought several other disc drives, but none of them has been able to read my discs. It doesn't look like the discs are faulty to me, but what do I know ? ? ?
Are you sure the 5.25in discs are for the CPC and not for some other computer?Hi Bryce,
Bryce.
Try XD-DOS ;D
The big question is ! ! ! Is it the PCW version ? ? ? Based on the pictures I'm not sure. Did bid on it, but didn't win ! ! !

6128 in Greece - might be a good buy for any Greeks looking for another machine: Amstrad CPC 6128 computer fully refurbished | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170829324627)
Actually, the postage isn't that bad for international post. It'd cost almost that much to post inside the UK if using Royal Mail!
Then why can't I see any Basic cartridge ?
Gotta be vigilant or this scroodgic Crook with not give it too.
Another CPC6128+Again I see no cartridge.
But defect I think.
The lack of any "copyright" on the box kinda speaks for itself.
usually we report those offers so the bid is cancelled...
I have about 5 Burnin Rubber Carts that I've picked up over the years, I have all the things I need in my parts bin to build 5 exact replicas of this cart! Maybe I should make a bootleg of the bootleg, and offer them on ebay for £10 each all at the same time? It would certainly put a crimp on this sellers 'Rare' claim! Grrr!Lol...
Well, I just did.And you did well oh mighty Gry... er... Contra, holy Palladin of the Amstrad.
Weren't there some guenuine ACID chips somewhere ?
Whoever could get a hold of those should build a plus cart with support for SD cards ala HxC to load your rom and .cpr images onto the cart's memory (wich could be 512k or more?).If I'm honest, that's one of the reasons why I started my FPGA project. But then I realised it's not much extra effort to emulate the whole CPC too and got a bit distracted... ;)
I'd actually like to get a hold of a 464+ myself. It would be a really great computer to mod. I'd say I could fit a HxC, slimline 3.5 Drive (with ABBA switch between 3.5 and HxC to make both useful for games), an S-Video output, 512K RAM expansion (576K Total), a MegaFlash, ACID inside and an AMX compatible USB Mouse port. It would be a tight squeeze, but if I made a custom PCB with everything on the one PCB and shaped to use all the free space, it could probably be done. The LCD for the HxC might be a problem, but there might be compatible slimline or miniature displays available, would have to check.
I don't intend starting a conversion service, I'd just do the one, but I'd publish pictures and instructions.
Oh, yeah, the sandwich question... As a french person you'll probably find this strange, but my version of a good sandwich is a Croissant filled with ham and gouda. Not strange...
The Plus is much narrower than the classic 6128, you have much more space on the desk with a plus. That's why it's usually the one I have in use.
But it's deeper, meaning there's no room for two keyboards (1 PC keyboard and 1 CPC) vertically placed.the flat surface of the 6128PLUS enable to put the extra keyboard on it.
My CPC464 is placed behind/above my PC keyboard, so I use the same screen for both.
Can't do that with a plus machine.
I need to put a chip into the CPC464plus before I can connect a diskdrive?
Is there a socket for this chip then at least?
And memory is also chips I have to put inside. Sockets for those too?
The 2nd link isn't working here.
But ok, I get that the 3rd link is for memory chips which I need to mount on the motherboard, hopefully in sockets.
(Because if I have to solder anything, I can forget about it right now).
What are the two other chips for again?
Yes, the pcb contains all the wiring for the chips, you just need to install them, using sockets if you want to.
To add 64k memory you require two 4464 chips, to add a disk drive , you need a upd 765 and sed 9940c data separator, you also need a few other common components.
Upgrading a 464plus to a 6128 plus is fully covered in three issues of Amstrad Action, issues 89 to 93 I think, not sure, if it is possible to download the issues from this site, you can take the pages and the components to a TV/computer repair shop and get them to install the chips for you, maybe.
Reported as counterfeit: Very Rare Greatest Hits - 4 games cartridge for Amstrad GX 4000 CPC464 6128 plus (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/itm/130705463350) - another of those 4 games in one cartridges from the same guy in France.
Just in case anyone is interested, an apparently BNIB C64: Commodore C64C computer | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170848715530)
I promise Gryzor, prices do not come from me!
Interestingly this over priced GX4000 comes from the same guy who repeatedly keeps selling counterfeit GX4000 cartridges. I guess he likes fleecing the market. Still, this auction looks legitimate apart from the stupid cost! The guy has a fairly high rating so i think the guy is at least semi-legit. Trying to sell as expensive as possible is not a crime (sadly) .. something that ive noticed is happening to the amstrad disc games lately (everyone seem to try to sell em first at £40 "buy-em-now" on ebay .. instead of the more usual open auctions from £1). Of cause he should know better as this isnt the first time his been reported and none of us would be unhappy if he sold em as "homemade" carts instead.
While we're at it, here's some AY--3-8912 for sale, for anyone who needs to fix their CPCs sound/keyboard:
GI AY-3-8912A 3 voice Programmable Sound Generator for Sinclair and Amstrad etc. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GI-AY-3-8912A-3-voice-Programmable-Sound-Generator-Sinclair-and-Amstrad-etc-/200771637366?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item2ebeec1076)
Bryce.
You would also need to identify the cat as already being dead, due to live animals also being banned from their site :D
Mine is to sell with my 3" cf2 original pack if you want to open yours ;)I got two Amsoft unopened 10x Compact Floppy Disc boxes like that.
When i shake it, it doesn't sound like cat in a box... :D
GBP295, €365. This must be the most expensive 664 ever, probably three times the normal price (including monitor) ever... I still don't understand it.
Amstrad book prized at £227,40:
Graphics Programming Techniques on the Amstrad CPC 464, Wynford James, Acceptabl (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Graphics-Programming-Techniques-Amstrad-CPC-464-Wynford-James-Acceptabl-/230805350467?pt=Non_Fiction&hash=item35bd122843)
Same seller also has a £100 amstrad book and a couple more at around £40-70 so i dont think its a typo. Pretty sure ive seen that book for like £5 quite often but i might be wrong :)
Jeezzzuzzzz! Maybe £100! If he's lucky! It's nice to have genuine packaged items but I'm sure he's just printing these cases/instructions from the net and buying up cheap boxed games and making these himself.
Oh wow, some actual, real cartridges!
... That aren't Burning Rubber being sold by some twat that sells his GX4000 in a separate auction :D
Bryce.
Oh wow, some actual, real cartridges!
I hate to break it to you but Star Fox 2 in his list was never released so it'll be a "reproduction"... :D
Aw, come on man, you ruined my day...
"The Japanese version was completely finished except for minor debugging tools that weren't yet removed. It is unknown if there are any complete official English versions, though an unofficial fan translation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_translation) exists."
....
On the Internet, a ROM image (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Read-only_memory) exists of an early alpha version (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_stage#Alpha) of the game,[8] which came from a source code archive dating to when the game was in early development.[9] Another ROM, compiled from the latest known source code before the project was cancelled, can also be found—this version is nearly complete and contains minor bugs, debug code, and unfinished features such as a rudimentary multiplayer mode
Ok, just for the hell of it I bought the Fire & Forget cartridge from him. I'll let you know how real it is when it gets here.
The pretty blue keys went for €145 :D Seems to be about the average for a 664 these days.
The pretty blue keysnot blue : Cyan !!!!
Again, another with a non-working disc driveYou meant "a completely destroyed by time drive belt"... this is 90% cases at worse.
I'll accept that others use the entire rainbow, but only women believe that every fruit, wine and whatever is a colour! (ie: Peach, Olive, Burgandy, Hazel and other non-existant colours)oh yes, those freaking Fuchsia, how do they work ?
TRUE !
I dunno if I'd agree with ALL of that. I get mighty annoyed when people refer the magenta usage in my graphics as PINK. It's...not...frickin'...pink...
you know, one day someone told them that Orange was the colour and the fruit...Heh, that reminds me... my neices grew up in Hong Kong and they were always confused by "orange" as all the oranges they saw were green.
My first PC had an Amber (Orange for men ) CGA screen.Thank you for the translation. :D
My first PC had an Amber (Orange for men :D ) CGA screen.Orange is just washed out red, so Amber qualifies as red. Everything red in the laundry sooner or later ends up "orange-y" if the laundry is left to men. But it still is red to me. :P
@Bryce: so when your wife asks you, "what colour should my next car be?", you will tell her, "128,156,212"? :D
Of course not! I recommended #6A6B6B but in the end she went for #2F4F4F. :)
Bryce.
Orange is just washed out redwashed with Lemons then...(I mean yellow for men)...

286
Better to get Gray... Stupid history idea to use green only. XDI would have been perfectly fine with Blue too.

I got the same, it does perfectly run with the CPC Plus.
I would have been perfectly fine with Blue too.Sure! :p
However, that was a question of physics - not of choice ;-)
Amstrad have been better to out a 16-bit computer using the Megadrive architecture instead of this hybrid computer or the CPC Plus... (with 3"1/2 drive and more memory, sure)
Ok, just for the hell of it I bought the Fire & Forget cartridge from him. I'll let you know how real it is when it gets here.
Bryce.
The Cartridge arrived at the weekend. It's real.
Bryce.
Nice item, but nothing more than a Megadrive and an PC in the same case.
Amstrad may have better to sell White MD clone as "GX500" instead. :D

Yep, now i see that an auction with a pack of lot of games at a BIG price is not the good way. But my wife had warned me.
So now i follow her advice and i take times to take picture of each items to split my packs. Some are already sold.

Others hardware comes this evening and this week... NC100, WestPhaser, Magnum, Music Machine, CPC464, CPC6128, a lot of tapes.
Sure, I'm watching the first auction. I miss new floppies.
Relisted, a month later: Very Rare Greatest Hits - 4 games cartridge for Amstrad GX 4000 CPC464 6128 plus (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/itm/130723751483) - would be good if a few more people reported this item too.Well, this is how seriously ebay take copyright violations... After complaining via the "contact us" form when the auction was still listed after another day, I finally got this response 2 days later:
Thanks for your email expressing your concerns for Amstrad game cartridge 130723751483. My name is Nathan and I will address your points.
Let me reassure you that it's our top priority to ensure eBay remains a safe and reputable place to shop. We take reports of members who break our rules very seriously and we'll thoroughly investigate this matter. The reason why the listing you reported have not been removed is because we simply cannot just take your word for it. If we removed every listing that anyone reported to us it would not be practical.
As eBay are not the experts in items like this, we're not in a position to make judgements about whether they are authentic or not, except in the most extreme cases. This may mean that we can't remove the item because it's not clear enough from the item description that it breaches our policies. I have reviewed the listing and it is not obvious enough that it breaches our policies - there is no mention that the games included were made by different publishers or that the item is unauthorised.
Although I'm sure you're extremely knowledgeable about these types of items, we can't remove items at the request of third parties whose credentials we can't verify.
If you believe that the item in question breach the intellectual property rights of a third party. I recommend that you notify the rights owner and encourage them to join our Verified Rights Owners (VeRO) Programme. Many rights owners are already members. Once we've verified them as a rights owner, they can request the removal of any listings that breach their intellectual property rights.
Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention and helping us keep eBay a safe and reputable place to buy and sell.
For all the ebay followers of my auctions, sorry to have canceled the "24 new empty CF2 disc auction" but it's for a good reason.
lol ;D Last paragraph prior to thanking you says it all really; we're only bothered if there is any chance we could get sued (reading between the lines)...
Alan Sugar contacted you personally saying he was going to commission a gold Amstrad CPC 464 with DDI-1 to mark the 30th Anniversary and wanted some new disks to go with the machine???
I think it's a bizarre and very a British trait to be strangely proud of yourself for having paid more for a certain brand when there is clear evidence that there are no benefits in doing so.
But clearly you are a savvy consumer as you have a CPC and have done for 28 years! I have found that many people I know will brag about having paid more as if it indicates they are more wealthy or successful and don't have to consider a trivial thing as price "don't you know". I find a lot of "no name" stuff is better than branded and costs less, often many times less. Basically for me, and I suspect yourself, if something does what I require, is in my price range and appears decent quality then it's the right product for me.
but cheap TVs cannot compare to expensive ones in terms of picture quality, build quality and design.
Spending a life in pursuit of Sony, BMW, Mercedees, and Apple seems like an awful waste to me. Now the pursuit of Amstrad, there is a more commendable way to spend your days ! :)
My £199 TV has better picture quality (and more features) than my friend's £750 TV of a similar size and spec. He was one of the first who asked where the heck I got mine from for such a bargain price. They'd sold out though. I was lucky enough to have caught the commercial in time. My PS3's games and blu rays look stunning on it and even old consoles look very decent on it too (unlike on some modern TV's that seem to have some weird smoothing out 'features' particularly for moving images)
What's more, as the technology matures yes, cheap solutions always begin to bridge the gap with the expensive ones. But, unless you got the most superb cheap TV ever and your mate got the shittiest GBP750 TV ever, if you calibrate both of them the right way there's no way a TV that costs, say, GBP100 (MRP: 250) can compete with a model that costs five times that to produce (MRP: 750). I'd suggest to your friend to get hold of a calibration disc and breathe new life into his TV :)
PS if I get a Jaguar XJS at 4000 euros, is this considered stupid or not?
after I declined to buy one at a car boot sale for £1 ... I have the buyers' remorse! Lol!Yeah, I have that from this weekend. I went to a car boot sale just to pick up an RF lead because the c64 I bought a few weeks back didn't come with one.
He's still got a few left like Enforcer...
I guess he is buying them locally and putting them up on ebay.
Yeah, I have that from this weekend. I went to a car boot sale just to pick up an RF lead because the c64 I bought a few weeks back didn't come with one.
Why? If you compare it to any other pictures of this cartridgeOh wow. OK, yeah. My bad, it looks like the genuine cartridge labels were done on a dot matrix printer and stuck on badly by hand!
the allure of those (non-working) 664 keys is just so tempting (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Amstrad-CPC-664-and-GT-65-monitor-/330760986834?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item4d02e420d2#ht_1288wt_1150)....
So, this has to be the most expensive retro thing on ebay at the moment: Extremely Rare condition Acorn Atom Computer - Museum Quality and working | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251105620795)
Nobody in their right mind will give £2k for an Atom, not even the Acorn experts over at the Stairway To Hell forum.
How did this happen?
starting price 99p, only three bids, sold for £54.00
usually bids go up in 20p increments, not this time.
Hitch-hiker's Guide to Artificial Intelligence: Amstrad by C. Naylor, Richard... (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251103122086?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649)
It did not even have the word "RARE" in the title ;D
@Ynot.zer0, I was interested in the book as well, but as soon as I saw it at £17ish, I decided not to bid on it :D .
yep, that was me, absolute maximum of £17.77... I guess the 2nd person bid £53 which is a heck of a jump and the 3rd person bid more than that.Exactly. IMHO your only mistake was not bidding in the last couple of minutes instead of days in advance. That said, in this case, you'd never have won it...
I have never worked out how the whole eBay thing works.
A Vickrey auction is a type of sealed-bid auction, where bidders submit written bids without knowing the bid of the other people in the auction, and in which the highest bidder wins, but the price paid is the second-highest bid. The auction was first described academically by Columbia University professor William Vickrey in 1961[1] though it had been used by stamp collectors since 1893[2]. This type of auction is strategically similar to an English auction, and gives bidders an incentive to bid their true value.
Quick!!! Buy this you lucky English people as he won't post abroad..... It's very, very rare!!!

As there is a "rare" gx4000 with a BIN price of £199.95 on ebay at the moment, I expect that "very, very rare" gx4000 to sell for at least £800  , but I sympathise with the seller who did not put even one "rare" in the title of his gx4000 and saw it sell this morning for just £12.50 :( .
I wonder how much it would cost to fix?
Sadly the speccy does not work - it shows random characters on the screen. However, you can easily
pickup a working spectrum plus for next to nothing and repair it easily. The rest therefore is untested.
99 Pfund für den Drecksdrumm, äh Speckdrumm, naja, also das Geld leg ich lieber in was sinnvolles an :P Kekse z.B. ;)
Translation: 99 quid for a Dirt-drum, eh Fat-drum, well, I'd rather invest the money on something more sensible. e.g. Biscuits.TFM's use of -drumm is a dialectal variant of the standard German word "Trumm" (piece, thing) which is not in use anymore today. The plural "Trümmer" however is used, and means pieces in the sense of debris or rubble.
I assume that they got some sort of feedback that the tape connections were causing the most issues / customer inquiries on other machines. I can't think of any other reason to do it.Because it's exactly the same strategy they made their name with on hi-fi gear. Instead of separates, Amstrad pioneered the all-in-one hi-fi system and were universally praised for the value-for-money they brought and ease of setup.

How about this one then: Amstrad 6128 Plus | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Amstrad-6128-Plus-/150869238770?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D1024149890033883851%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26#ht_500wt_922) he's at it again! Broken keyboard, faulty disc drive - apparently it's a great bargain and works fine apart from the somewhat aforementioned serious problems. No pictures other than the terrible one on the page and no indication that it even works. Sold as seen, no returns - all yours for the fantastic price of £180 (plus £10 postage). If he sells that I'll eat my hat!
What I didn't say of course is what sort of hat it would be. I'm pretty sure Starmix or one of those other kids sweets selection do a jelly shaped hat which of course I'd be delighted to eat if needs be ;) .
eBay should develop image scanning technologies. In cases such as this, when you bid a pop-up should scream in your face: YOU SURE YOU WANT THAT PIECE OF CRAP? THE SELLER SOLD ONE LIKE THIS, IN BETTER, WORKING CONDITION JUST A WHILE AGO, WHY DON'T YOU CHECK OUT SOME OF OUR OTHER AUCTIONS, HMMMM?
With 8A 5V, 3A 12V and 0.5A -12V it will power almost any 8-bit in your collection (except Commodores and Acorn Electrons)
Bryce.
I stopped caring about the Olympics a long time ago. Everything is designed to make money, money, money. It's really ridiculous. And all those torches etc being sold, what a shame...Agree! And after making all that billions.... the athletes don't even get real gold medals, it's just gold covered. What a shame and what an insult to the old Greek values.

I reckon you could pick your choice of hardware and still make a profit from selling the stuff you didn't want :)
Bryce.
So when will you be travelling over? :D I'll take the A1200, the working BBC Master, the Electron stuff and either one of the 464+. We can split the price somehow and divide the income from selling the rest :)
Bryce.
P.s. I might take the ZX Spectrum too, depending on which version it is :)
or have more money than brain, then this might be the thing for You.
Nice collection indeed. I like it when they call computers "keyboards" :D
Looks like a certain person pulled all his auctions. The AMX Mouse, trackball and the Britannia ROMBoard auctions have all been pulled.
Bryce.

The NCs come up a lot lately, strangely enough! But they're always super-lovely.Just out of interest, what's the usual going price for these? I picked up 3 NC100s and a PPC1512 as a job lot from a car boot sale recently, 1 seems dead but the other 2 are OK. I was planning on keeping both the working NC100s (and presumably the dead one too), but I'd never actually seen any on ebay so I really had no idea what they were worth when I bought them...
To place all 19 of them on the dirty garden floor - that's really what makes me NOT liking them in particular. Poor CPCs - I really hope they get a good home and a caring new owner. It's what I though first, seeing that!
Seems a bit odd that they're all QWERTY layout, even the Schneider ones...
I do not read german, but it seems there is only one GT65 monitor for those 19 CPC 6128s.
I always consider a CPC without a monitor to be incomplete, yet they form the majority on ebay because sellers do not want to send a monitor anywhere, where do all these orphaned monitors end up?
I have 3 GT65s in the garage, which I don't need. But they are impossible to get rid of due to the cost of posting them anywhere. I will probably dump them during the next clean out.new cpc screen drivers with multiple monitor span ;)

I will probably dump them during the next clean out.No, you won't. We'll find a better solution, and I think I can make a bit of room in my basement.

There are too many of them and most CPC users don't want to work on a green screen.I like my green screens!
As far as I have seen & read all Schneider's were QWERTY as well (my 4 Schneiders are all QWERTY).
From wikipedia...
To achieve a German "QWERTZ" keyboard layout, Schneider marketed a small software to reassign the keys as well as sticker labels for the keys.

Obviously not designed for their computer range, but still, nice to have an Amstrad tape recorder if you use one with your 6128...Ooh! But I missed it. It didn’t sell, though. I’ll be very tempted if it appears again. :D

Amstrad produced quite a bit of HiFi, radios and other audio hardware, so this tapedeck isn't specifically for a computer, it's just a standard music tapedeck.

Even though the cartridges are clearly both fake, when I contacted ebay TWICE in the past about a CPC plus multicartridge they simply said that it's not their job to decide if something is infringing copyright or not. I replied pointing out exactly where in their terms and conditions they said they take copyright infringement seriously, explained that this cartridge was never released and hence was a bootleg, explained that the games were all from different publishers, that such bootlegs were devaluing genuine single-game cartridges this was a compilation of and hence loosing them commission, and they just emailed back saying that copyright claims can only be lodged by the copyright holder. Since the developers of all these games had been acquired multiple times, some gone out of business, and I still hadn't found anyone who I thought might actually care after an hour of searching I gave up. Additionally, as I'd flagged it up here, I know a couple of other people had reported the item too.
is this reportable?
why don't you announce these items first here, and then if nobody wants them on ebay ?Because this thread is called "Re: Latest on ebay".

Feel free to mock me if I've paid over the odds ;D
Well, I never unterstood why folks must bit in the last second. That's kinda weird.I do so now .... :D but I don't like it :-X . Once, someone else was overbidding me and then after 20 minutes he or she took the bid away (I could checked it in my email when I came home, ebay sends you, someone overbid and after 20 min another mail, you win .... that was very weird .....). Because this other "ghost-bidder" I won BUT at my maximum bid, what I wanted to bid plus a couple of Euros more. There was nobody else in the auction. Since than, I do it in the last minute .....
....
Well, I never unterstood why folks must bit in the last second. That's kinda weird.Maybe in the abstract, but in reality, that’s how it works. Sniping can be surprisingly effective and sometimes is essential. If one really wants an item, sometimes it’s the best way to have a chance. At other times, it lets you get an item for a lower price than if someone else saw your desired price and bid higher. I’m not saying it’s a particularly nice tactic, but there you go! I guess it’s ‘law of the jungle’ on eBay, anyway.
I mean... I think about how much I would like to afford and then I place my bid.Which is a nice idea, but I wonder: how often do you get outbid? ;)
And I do that once at the beginning. That's it!
Yeah, I use sniping tools now as well as ebay seems so open to abuse it's mental.Hey now, I’m an old-fashioned manual sniper, thank you very much. :P
Sniping doesn't guarantee you'll win the auction obviously, but it "may" help you get something at a better price. :DYeah, as I said, this is the other advantage. Naively expecting a great deal, I was stunned when the 6128+ jumped from £10 or something all the way to £70. Still not too bad, mind you! I’m guessing it all works perfectly, although the seller wasn’t willing to hedge their bets and say that.
Which reminds me I must get that 6128+ sent to my sister in the UK so I have something to play with when I am over there... ;) Just kidding - I did think about it though...WHY YOU LITTLE [reads second sentence] Oh… [stops strangling beaker]
@db6129: IMO your theory works only as long nobody is bidding the way I do. :laugh:Sure, but then your bid has to be very high for it to survive the entire time, especially the rapid-fire sniping near the end. ;)
Hey now, I’m an old-fashioned manual sniper, thank you very much. :P
Whenever I'm outbid I also ask myself if I'm willing to invest just as much time searching for the same item again and risking again to be outbid. Because let's face it, Ebay auctions steal a lot of your time (mainly searching, but also waiting, communication, fetching the package). For uncommon items this usually means that I'm willing to bid a bit more on the item I'm currently looking at.Actually, I have a couple of automatic searches, so every day ebay emails me if anything with 664, 6128 or GX4000 appears in the title or description. So, I get 2 emails per day, usually both with the same few games for 464/664/6128, but it's easy to to glance at that when I'm checking my mail to see if there's anything of interest.
The disadvantage of bidding early or using a sniping program is that you are commited to buy if you win the auction, whereas I can watch an auction and have until the last few seconds to decide whether I really want that item.I thought sniping sites did allow you to cancel your bid. I can imagine it maybe not working if you cancel in the last few seconds, because they have a whole load of servers all trying to place a proxy bid for you, and they might not all get the cancellation message, but certainly I believed they used to advertise the fact that you could change your mind because the ebay bid hadn't been placed as a benefit. I guess you'd probably still be charged the snipe fee though.
I thought sniping sites did allow you to cancel your bid.
That said, keep looking for bargains. I've paid around £35 (€50) for all but one of my 6128s - all without monitors and only one of them has a working drive. However on once occasion, I won a boxed 6128 and monitor with £10 (€15) because it was collection only. It's obviously not common, but it does happen if you make bids on things that people don't spot (or don't want to drive to if it's collection only).
I've paid around £35 (€50) for all but one of my 6128s
Usually, there's some psychology involved though. People decide to increase their bids more the closer it is to the auction end, because it then becomes the need to make a snap judgement and by then they're emotionally involved because they've already placed 3 bids. In reality, though, they're actually bidding £50 for something they initially thought was worth £20. And they might actually get it for £45 in this scenario and think they've got a bargain, but they've still paid more than double what they thought it was worth and more than everybody else thought it was worth.Yes, this. ‘I MUST not lose, even if I pay twice as much! My PRIDE is at stake!’
[…] there are a lot of stupid buyers on ebay who'll happily pay more than the buy it now price from other sellers or even from a normal online shop, because they've got emotionally invested in an auction.
I know you guys are proud of your pound and all that, but £35 is currently around €42, not €50! :DSound as a pound mate, sound as a pound.
... collection only. It's obviously not common, but it does happen if you make bids on things that people don't spot (or don't want to drive to if it's collection only).A prime example of a good collection-only bargain here: Amstrad 464 Colour With Monitor | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160955360577)
Whoa!
Yes, collection-only deals can be insanely good ......
You forget only that to pick the goods up, to sell them again and make the package and the postage take time and time is money ;-)Definitely, yes. I did hint that it takes work for the re-seller, but I didn’t explain it as well as you! As for me, I don’t even like having to list 2 or 3 things, so I don’t think I could work through a bag of tapes and list them one by one! Or I would have done that with my tapes already. Not to mention all the fees…
I am confidence that today all the sellers who sell only to collect receive, if the good is ok, a lot of emails from possible buyers with the hint they should post to reach more people and to get more money.Sure, and I’m quite often one of those possible buyers who’s asking for postage.
I am only angry (brrr .... sniff ... sniff .... ) when I see good Amstrads in UK ebay only to collect and I cannot reach them ....Heh, me too. I guess we just have to keep bothering the sellers with our requests to post! ;)
The C64 is the most numerous classic computer, 28 million made?, they can afford to lose a few.
Apparently it's got three games: "BEACH HEAD" , "SABRE WULF" and the GTW called "THANKS FOR LOOKING", hence its hefty price.Actually, thinking about it, the TSAM version of JSW was a re-working that had the same levels as the original spectrum version, not the extended version that had previously been on sale for the Amstrad. No idea why it was downgraded as presumably they had no intentions of continuing to sell the original version.
This sold early in Janurary.

That's an incredible collection, but single items are already worth more than the starting bid. I guess he will get some more more more money out of this. On the other hand the customer need to have a truck to pick up all that stuff, that may scare people off from buying. But this offer is an extraordinary chance.

Ok, I've gone through the pictures several times now and seem to be missing something. What single item is worth more than half a million dollars in your opinion?Nothing. It's illusionary to sell all the stuff at once and at that price. He may get quite a few bucks if he is patient and takes the time to sell each piece individually.
Hopefully he'll donate the lot to the Wiki. That’s the spirit! Keep the dream alive! ;)

Is it possible to rebuild a CPC with such a kit set? Rebuild (emulate) the Amstrad CPC specific CRTC?
8 minutes to the end of the auction is not enough time for people to even see the post, let alone bid on it, sorry.
I've seen quite a few GX4000s going for between 10 and 20 pounds lately. They don't seem to be as popular as one might think. There was even a "Buy Now" GX4000 on for 15 pounds and it was almost a week before it went.
They weren't all boxed, but one was and went for 19 pounds. I would have taken it myself, but as so often it was UK only.
Here's an interesting offer: Schraube von einem Amstrad Schneider CPC6128 | eBay (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Schraube-von-einem-Amstrad-Schneider-CPC6128-/230935868982?pt=Klassische_Computer&hash=item35c4d9b636)
Probably most interesting for 6128 owners that happen to have a screw loose! :D

"Here's 300 quid in monopoly monies. Haven't tested them in a bank, but they should work".
LOL - I've got some games on tape that I haven't used since 1991. You can have the lot for $250. Some of the magnetic tape has become powdery... but I'm sure they still work ;D
Were the keys originally brown, or were they originally grey keys that have since yellowed with age?Definitely Brown. I have a early Schneider (tall key version) and the keyboard is exactly the same.
Tomahawk was one of my favourite games back then. Unfortunately I recently discovered, that the LensLock only works on screens up to about 15in. My 19in screen is too big to use it, so I couldn't play the game :(
Bryce.
As someone who is interested by the different revisions of CPC (both internal & external differences) as well as the slight differences for the different markets (Spanish/French/German etc) I find this CPC 464 that has just come up on ebay Australia very interesting.
Amstrad CPC 464 Computer complete with original boxes | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Amstrad-CPC-464-Computer-complete-with-original-boxes-/321111812445?pt=AU_Computers_Vintage&hash=item4ac3c1695d)
I have even contacted the owner to verify some things and he has been extremely helpful and is the original purchaser who purchased it from the usual retail outlet that was selling them in Australia at the time.
Straight up you will notice that it is the original tall key 464 with the brown keys as used on the original Schneider (German) version.
The case on top is marked with the usual (original) Amstrad badge and the cassette door has the usual colour markings not the Schneider one, even though the cassette record button is also the brown version. After contacting the seller he provided a few more photos. The sticker/badge on the bottom of the CPC is the Schneider version (so German text). On bootup the computer shows the "Awa" distributor message (so intended for the Australian market).
The seller has assured me this is exactly how he purchased this in Australia and it is untouched and never been opened up or things swapped etc.
The seller was not aware of the differences and just thought it was an everyday (normal) CPC.
I have never seen another one like it in all the years I have been looking at Amstrad CPC stuff.
The seller was even nice enough to scan me the DDI brochure (with the Awa-Thorn distributor details) and emailed them to me. I will upload them soon to the Awa section of the wiki.
Sounds to me like for a short period of time they ran out of some bits and used what they had. Still makes for an interesting CPC (well for me at least).
I would like to buy it but Brisbane is a very long way from where I am and the postage costs would be high.
Attached are the extra pictures the seller sent me.

Anything serious or of programming interest?
Wow that is an interesting 464 (rare hybrid?). Are you going to buy it???
When the disk is one sided only:
Copy a cracked version on side B ;)
No, just games... and I was only joking...they have had the gong! Trying to sell them wouldn't be very appropriate of me.
BTW, Theres a CPC664 for sale in Victoria, AU:

This winging its way to me, finally got one
Don't be sad, I think CPCManiaco got that auction...:)
On the other hand, it seems that the auction includes the box of FCoJ, but not the actual game.Ouch, you're right! It just says Box for FcoJ. :(
Let's see what happens when the games arrive.
Today is your lucky day!YAY!!! :D
I was talking to CPCManiaco and he already had a copy of FCoJ, and said that a full dump will be available at cpc-power once it comes online again.
;)
I was talking to CPCManiaco and he already had a copy of FCoJ, and said that a full dump will be available at cpc-power once it comes online again.I managed to grab CPCManiaco's dump of Frankie Crashed on Jupiter shortly before CPC-POWER went down as I was aware that only side 1 of the disc was available on the Internet. I recently uploaded a deprotected version of the game to NVG:
What I don't quite understand is why a German company would release a fully English-language text adventure for a German market?! ???Because we Germans think in an global scale. The usage of English language is common to us. Most of us speak two, three or more languages. [nb]While Americans obviously speak only one language, and this is questionable ;-)[/nb] Further there is no Need to insist in small nationalistic thoughts and bothering the rest of the world by using a non-world-language.
Or because they wanted to make the most money and the majority of Amstrad users were in the UK? Much more likely.
Bryce.
Or maybe they just did a single English version for all Countries to save Money, that was actually quite common back the day.
A text adventure with two sides? How much text is there? Obviously no compression to speak of?Side 2 of Frankie Crashed on Jupiter contains all the pictures that accompany the text.
Huh. But how do you use them?

Not quite Ebay - but New Zealand's 'TradeMe' has a few treasures from time to time:I wouldn't pay that for a 464 though!
I wouldn't pay that for a 464 though!
Whereabouts in NZ are you? I sometimes go over around Christmas time to visit my sister in Auckland and also try to get to the South to do some tramping. Probably won't be for another couple of years now though - couldn't afford it this year and my sister is coming back to the UK next year... :(
Oh, and my sister raves about trademe too... I think half the stuff she buys she found on there!

If TFM bid 5 pounds on it and you bid too, why is only one bid showing?
Did already put 5 Pound on it, but at the end it will a more anyway. So good luck!

This is nice indeed. I'm gonna bid on it.
Did you get the joystick, or was it somebody else?
If yes, could you do a simple test for me?
Could you try to check out if this joystick works on a Plus machine with the Plus Version of FutureOS?? I only had one chance to test it with real hardware ever (with a different joystick). Your help really would be appreciated. :)
Then GOOD LUCK with that. Can't be too much.

Don't forget that 90% of the humans out there are already zombies, they just buy.
The Electron is so striped down, that it's almost impossible to use without expansions. It doesn't even have joysticks without a huge expansion. So buying extra stuff for it tends to be a must. But it's a great machine when you have it expanded. It's one of my favourites.

Didn't end very high at all. 182 Pounds... well... you pay more for a SF2 (see auction before).
Well they weren't all blue to start with. My 664 is a complete grey keyboard version and there was a beige/brown version too.
Bryce.
Well the price is still relatively reasonable, but there's still 6 days to go.
Bryce.
It went for an amazing £202.
Well, ok, I assume they are definitely more scarce. But technology is more or less on same level. :)
In retroworld, technology / speed / power of a computer has no relation to the price. A C64 is much more powerful than an Altair 8800, but the price is the complete opposite.
Bryce.
I have a Atari Jaguar CD (working) for 1 Million euros is anyone wants it ;D

Er... good luck. Another 200 euros for postage... So I can't even put in a realistic offer :D
Now, now, guys. I'm sure it's a misunderstanding.
What I infer from this auction is that the guy has serious problems with placing the decimal point at the right position.
I like the way the PCB tracks look hand drawn! :) I obviously knew about the "dead cockroach" before, but I'd never seen a photo of the rest of the PCB...
so it's not like they are missing the bend just because the frequency was increased. :D
Sharp corners are only a problem on high frequencies if they happen to form an antenna out of the track. Electrons tend travel at the same speed no matter what frequency they happen to be switching at, so it's not like they are missing the bend just because the frequency was increased. :D

Ah damn, saw it too late and it's UK only, otherwise I might have put in a bid. However, it's strange - two of the TV tuners have a three-position switch, what's up with that?

I'd just committed myself to an NEC PC engine a few hours earlier which was beyond my budget for this month and I think the Shipping on the 6128+ from Greece to UK is the final deciding factor. But thank you ever so much for the kind offer it is very much appreciated.
And may I mention the Tatung Einstein makes a fantastic shelf for it. It's like they were meant to go together

Yea, the shipping cost is annoying.
But if you're lucky you'll find a seller who has TWO machines you want. Then you'll save on postage. ;)

why cpc 464 have different colour on datassete door , sometimes is white , yellow or red?
Maybe is standar colours from country as plus cartridges, The spanish cpc 464 are all red.Looks more like paint aging.

Looks more like paint aging.
Schneider have a grey painting.
Amstrad should be red. However, the red seem to be a mix of yellow and magenta (as expected), where the magenta fades away with age (UV effect ?).
You can see nearly all shade from the proper red to yellow.
I've one which is somehow orange, but you can clearly see an uneven layer of redish on top of yellow paint.
so it's not importnat what colour i put, i have red but can put yellow to replace broken red door?Well, if original colour is important for you, you should aim at a red painted door.

Anyway, I hope this is the right place to post a blatent advert for some of our CPC listings... this week we are auctioning a number of rather lovely Infocom adventure titles. It's rare for us to find this many Infocom games together in one go, let alone in this condition, hence the reason that I felt I had to shout about it:Yikes! :o I know Infocom games are highly sought after, but it's very rare for CPC game to sell as high as the prices listed below:
Six have been uploaded so far, along with a couple of other games including some Rainbird titles, but there are a further twelve Infocom auctions to be uploaded shortly.

So, has this set some new records for CPC games? Naturally we'd hoped for some decent bids on these, but I'll have to admit our expectations were somewhat surpassed ;D We await a further flurry of activity with this evening's final dozen auctions. I can't imagine anyone has any money left, but we will see...I really don't know for certain, but as far as non-cartridge games are concerned, I reckon your recent sale of Sorcerer is the most expensive CPC game I've seen on eBay.
We await a further flurry of activity with this evening's final dozen auctions. I can't imagine anyone has any money left, but we will see...And the results from round two are in...

Well done Tim. Can't think of a more deserving chap (well except for me of course ;) )

So Suspended has managed to surpass Sorcerer as the most expensive non-cartridge game I've seen on eBay! :)Gosh, that was all very exciting wasn't it! S'pose it's back to dealing in £2.99 games again now it's all over ...
Well done Tim. Can't think of a more deserving chap (well except for me of course ;) )Thank you! Sadly, I'm all out of Issue 1 Spectrums so I had to pull something else out of the hat to keep up ;)
I'm hoping to find a cheap disc copy of Hero Quest at some point so my daughter Annabelle and I can play it together.
(I do have a copy on my Amiga but the CPC version has a certain thrill to it)
For 400 quid you also get a 6128+ or a 664 from this guy :o
Video connectors and power supplies aren't cheap these days :D
What next, 16k spectrum selling for £1000 ? lol
Aren't the gold C64s quite rare though?
Mind you, I can understand the doorstop thing. I must have bought my C64 about 15 months ago now and it was turned on once to make sure it worked and never since... :(
Anyway, my next plan is to get a Sam Coupe. These are more frequent but always get over 300.
Regarding the €200 GX4000, I like to make offers of €2 or €3 on these sales, just so that the seller realises how far off the market price he is.
I needed something to weigh down the other side of the house ;D
It did for a while :D until the BBC Model B messed it all up again >:( I've bought a second Amiga 1200 as a stop gap measure to try and stabilise the situation otherwise I might need to consider unpinning the foundations and back filling using Spectrums :'(
People have been known to try and sell Speccies for high sums (and not get them).

No problem, get yourself a Tatung and the building will sink you back down to being on the third floor. Save you some of that stair climbing. :)Hehe. That sounds like a good solution, but I prefer some stair climbing to train my back a bit after sitting the whole day at the office. :)
Bryce.
Hehe. That sounds like a good solution, but I prefer some stair climbing to train my back a bit after sitting the whole day at the office. :)
That Tatung computer sounds very intriguing, if the shipping cost would not be that prohibitive. ;)

So Suspended has managed to surpass Sorcerer as the most expensive non-cartridge game I've seen on eBay! :)This is just getting ridiculous now. Several games by Lankhor were on sale on eBay France recently and look how much they sold for:
Well that doesn't sound like a good price to sell it at! Why didn't you stick a reserve on it? Has China discovered the CPC or something? Are you referring to me selling Fugitif for £27? It's easy to say in hindsight that I should have set a reserve price, but I had actually bought my copy of Fugitif on eBay for around £8 (believe it or not!), and I was confident that it would sell for a high price. Again, in hindsight, £27 seems a very low sum now, but back then, I wasn't disappointed, given the price I had paid for the game originally.
How Much :o

Mint Issue 1 Speccy! (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111323666336)Ending today!
I should be able to get those discs off this weekend.
Ending today!
I'm interested. TC is actually improving the sound on my +2 and sorting out the joystick port to work with Atari joysticks. I wouldn't mind an issue 1 at some point. Nice to see anything that a member is selling that's out of the ordinary (like an early version of a machine) :) shhh... I've actually been playing with my C64 over the last few weeks, and my other one is being fitted with JiffyDOS and I just bought an Ultimate II to go with it...
Out of curiosity... Is in this forum a single person interested in Spectrums?
imno it's a waste of time (for all) that spectrum stuff get's posted here.
Out of curiosity... Is in this forum a single person interested in Spectrums?I don't have one, so I'd buy a spectrum if there was one going cheap enough.
Interesting, thank for your answers. Guess the advantage of the Spectrum is it's text mode, but I don't know much about it. It's video chip seems to be similar the the CBS collecovison, which is a system I had at 1984 and liked much (pre CPC era ,-))
Can the speccy somehow beat the c64? (faster cpu maybe?).
I agree, the Z80 may run faster but with the CPC you spend around 2/3 of a frame just drawing stuff to the screen - so in reality you are working with a 1mhz processor :(
I just missed out on a PcW 16, I remembered the auction with just 6 seconds to go, and could not get a bid in, it sold for just £13.18.
Did it have a mouse with it?Yes, is did come with a mouse. Did actually look "cute" ;D

WTF! :-X A 464+ currently at over £200 with 5 minutes to go: Amstrad 464 Plus Vintage Rare Computer | eBay :o :o :o (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191184568514)
HxC for the 464+??? ??? You do know it's not got a disk controller on the motherboard so you'll need to get someone to build one?
It's the monitor I really wanted. One with no yellowing.
There was one on eBay a couple of months ago that was only 99p, and it only sold after being listed 3 times.
I would strongly suggest getting a Sony Trinitron 14" instead, you can pick those up for £10 and the picture is 1000x better :)

I've been pretty disappointed with my 14 inch Trinitron. Give it any exotic to handle and all I get is a black and white image.

Are you sure about that? Bryce installed a HxC in my CPCplus, and I don't remember him adding a disk-controller too.
I've been looking at the CM14 monitor too to go with my CPCplus, but so far still not hooked enough on it. Maybe some day. It's just a bit more awesome having a "complete" set. :)
Is it set to the correct broadcast mode (PAL/NTSC)? If it's in the wrong one for the input you'll get B&W like that.
Well that will happen if you will insist on buying the wrong one ;)
Silver my man, you need the silver one :)

Beaker got there before me :) By the way, it's a massive amount of work that took several weeks to complete.
Bryce.

Never heard of this game. Is it indeed rare?Looks pretty dire from the screenshot(s): Mario Bros. for Amstrad CPC (1987) - MobyGames (http://www.mobygames.com/game/mario-bros)
There was a CPC version? :o
<snip>
Hm, CPC version doesn't look as good from the screenshots but I dunno if it plays anywhere near as well as the NES game.
I had it back in the days. Quite a good port of the arcade version. But i don't think it's nowhere a rare gameI think the same, that game was common as mud. Nice for a two player game, better in green monitor than in the colour one... what awful palette!!!.
This looks in really good condition

worth every penny to I reckon
I think it's just a Schneider 464 that's been painted to make it look like a prototype. The wavy sticker above the main keys is a bit of a giveaway not to mention the pastic behind the cassette perspex is still grey. :-X
Looks like he's ramping up for mass production (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Home-Computer-Schneider-CPC-464-Edition-BEIGE-Kassette-/291192467737).
It's funny how some Amiga owners are painting their Amigas black and here we have someone painting their CPC white or is it really white plastic?.
It looks nice, like a bar of white chocolate. ;D
